erdist

She'll be on May 18th on BBC America, this show is more fun then the now lame-ass late night talk shows. She may be able to loosen up and have a good time.

Somebody bump this right before it comes on. I'd like to see that. With a name like "The Nerdist," I imagine Firefly will be discussed!

I can pretty much guarantee that. Chris Hardwick, the host, also has a free podcast called "The Nerdist" that I highly recommend. The episode with Nathan Fillion was quite good, and Firefly was discussed. He's also interviewed Neil Patrick Harris, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Julie Benz, Adam Savage, and dozens more icons of geek pop culture that might interest folk here. He's a funny and entertaining guy. (Sadly, I can't really say the same for his co-hosts; the best podcasts seem to be when they're absent. This is one of the main reasons I don't watch the TV version much, because they're always around. It can have its moments, though.) Chris Hardwick also hosts Talking Dead, if anyone is a Walking Dead fan. And he used to host Web Soup, which was an infinitely superior show to Tosh.0, and I was sad when it went off the air.

What reason had proved best ceased to look absurd to the eye, which shows how idle it is to think anything ridiculous except what is wrong.

PRose, I vote with you on the nerdist podcasts. Guests to die for, co-hosts to - - well - - erm - - I have a theory based on "jerques-a-deux" or even "a-trois" which explains how it's possible for any one of the three to be tolerable alone and yet when together with others so unendurably laddish and disgusting. Many's the time I clicked the little clicky, yanked the headphone wire, and enjoyed my burrito listening to something else.

Also (for other readers here 'cos PRose undoubtedly knows) at the Nerdist site are other 'casts. I recommend the Thrilling Adventure Hour, which occasionally features some Fillion guy as Cactoid Jim, and (if you're interested in how the TV/features sausage is made) the Writers' Panels, featuring many who have written for our favorite shows.

Heh, I'm rather curious about how that works, but in the case of Matt and Jonah, I never think they're funny or entertaining. They clearly want, very badly, to be experts on all things geek, but they have no actual insight at all. They're just some lucky guys who get to act like they're smarter and funnier than they are because they made friends with a smart and funny guy. They get to bask in the reflection of the Nerdist, but I don't find them interesting or tolerable without him.

Sadly haven't really listened to any of the other 'casts. I can't even keep up with Nerdist very easily, gotta pick and chose them.

Deffo pick and choose. There's a lot of time eaten there if you aren't cooking or taking out gallbladders or doing something otherwise useful.
I've heard Jonah solo a little - - not my cuppa but not always fully cringeworthy. Matt nearly a loss so far, though there was hope. FEAB podcasts just horrible as I prayed and prayed there would be some development. There wasn't. I gave up. I think Jonah finally got married - - maybe will give him a listen if there's a "hostful" segment and see if there's been an improvement. LOL.

I like watching nerdists bowl against other shows on youtube.
