A demented Texas dad “celebrated” 12/12 on Wednesday by carving a pentagram into his 6-year-old son and then splashing the boy’s blood on the front door of their home, cops said.

"I shed some innocent blood," Brent Troy Bartel, 39, told a police dispatcher, local TV station WFAA.com reported.

"I inscribed a pentagram on my son," he said.

When the dispatcher asked why, Bartel said, “Because it’s a holy day.”

Police believed he carved up the boy with a box cutter found at the scene.

Why the 12-12-12 date? As Asylum producer Paul Bales proclaims, "This is our last chance to make a movie about the Mayan 2012 prophecy before the world ends on December 21st". Gotta milk them doomsdays, you know; and milk it they will – with breast milk.

Writer-director Jared Cohn, also the man at the helm of The Asylum’s upcoming theatrically released slasher flick #holdyourbreath, is also behind this latest entry in the satanic baby genre. The film revolves around a new mother who comes to realize her newborn baby Sebastian – born on 12/12/12 – is actually the spawn of hell once those around him begin to die.

12-12-12 stars Sara Malakul Lane, Jesus Guevera, Carl Doleson, and Steve Hanks.

The film has already stirred up some unintentional controversy in star Sara Malakul Lane’s home country of Thailand where an on-the-set photo of her in make-up to make her look pregnant was misconstrued as the real thing. Apparently, in Thailand, having a baby out of wedlock is still considered somewhat taboo, it would seem.

The Asylum has provided us with a trio of set photos that seems to confirm Cohn’s promise that 12-12-12 will deliver some really gruesome imagery.

12-12-12 will actually arrive on DVD/VOD on 12-4-12 giving you exactly 8 days to get your life in order before the birth of the antichrist and 17 days before the end of the Mayan calendar heralds the end of the world.
