This only realized through the power of repeats that show the series finale followed by the pilot episode.

I noticed the Welcome to the Hellmouth/Chosen thing when the finale aired and LOVED it -- I would have liked more moments like that in the finale, but I'm glad they gave us that one of the original core four.
