So I was just thinking on how I converted three of my best friends into Browncoats- invite them over, get out Serenity, and watch it. That seems to work for me.
How do you turn ordinary folk into Browncoats?

Is that Serenity the pilot episode or the movie?

The movie.
I figured it would be the best approach for them.

The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds, given adequate vacuuming systems.

My best friend and my dad got me hooked. I just tell people its a space Western, its only 14 episodes so its not a big time committment, and that I'm going to name my group home that I want to own someday after one of the charactors, she's touched and has powers and her brother looks after her and I really admire them both. Plus I tell them its exciting and has something for everyone in it, just try it and see if you love it.

I put in Train job, or the original pilot episode Serenity. Preferably, I have it already in as background noise when guests get there. It has never failed to suck them in.

Or, I loan them disc1, and if I'm generous, Disc 2. After that disc 3 and 4 are "out on loan" So they have to go buy their own copy.

I learned early on that loaning out the box set = you dnt get it back.

I also give Firefly as a gift at any opportunity.

Browncoats are the shiniest folks in the 'verse

I did it the way Saffron would. I kidnapped people at gunpoint and left them naked in the desert, so they would empathize with Mal.

I plead to a lesser charge and I recommend buying them Firefly on DVD.

Invite folks to watch it with you, give the first two discs on loan ( everyone will tell you if you loan the whole set, consider it a gift, because it will not return ) buy a set or two for your library, tell folks who like Castle that you've seen Nathan in his first leading role and it's excellent and they should see it. Have shindigs and share it with a crowd with home-cooked food and good drinks. Wear shiny tees and tell folks what it's all about when they ask. Direct them to Nathan's twitter and soon they'll be curious about why he keeps having Firefly crop up in his popular show.
Everyone in my family except for one brother loves Firefly and all they had to do was see it once. That's all it takes.
