Hey guys,

I was reading the shooting script that's online for the first episode, and I can't help but get the feeling that there are some lines missing towards the beginning. I.E. the scene at the very start in Serenity Valley just jumps forward into them being in outer space.

Quoting from the script:
"Zoe and the other move out, and we stay on Mal, widening as he makes his way up a small slope that is littered with soldiers, living and dead and very much in-between. One of them is sitting and crying. Mal puts a comforting hand to his head as he passes -- we are pulling back as Mal continues on. As we pull back further, we see that Mal'se about a foot around on the middle of the door. Zoe reaches in and snips the wire with pliers."

I get the feeling that there's something missing there, specifically in the part where it goes "Mal'se." Does anyone know if there is supposed to be more there? If there is, does anyone know where, besides the Visual Companion, I could get a version of the script that doesn't have the missing bit? I get this problem in all of the main sites that have scripts (Fireflywiki, TwizTV, etc.)

Normally I wouldn't care about that tiny bit of script, but I want a friend to read the script without having seen the episode as part of a film school exercise, and it's very difficult to grasp the transition into the derelict ship as the scripts stand.

And help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance! =)

There's clearly some pretty important text missing (including the transition from Serenity Valley to the exterior of the derelict ship the crew hits).

Unfortunately, my copy has the same problem. I have a feeling your best bet is the Firefly Companion... or get access to a copy of that and "correct" your messed up Word doc.
