LOGISTICS
On Posting
No matter what the preferred posting format, it would be easier for the players if the move you're making is posted directly to the person you would like to react to it, rather than the bottom-most person on the RP thread. Your post will appear at the bottom regardless of who you reply to, but if Raven replies to SerenitySon to post a move that he would rather have Merz to react to, Merz may not see it in a timely enough fashion to reply to it herself.
On Formatting
Several of us seem to be using a basic fanfic format combined with scripting. That is to say, putting blank lines between paragraphs and starting a character's speaking lines with their name in all caps. For example:

ROWAN: Either of you fellas up for a game of nine ball?
Expressions or emotions can be added to these lines thusly;

ROWAN (a la Mae West): Why Jayne, is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?
This fanfic/script combination does have a tendency to cause posts to become pretty long, but it also makes them clearer to read. Haken's nifty commands and CapnRahn's super shiny color codes (listed below) can also be used, but all of these formatting suggestions can be left to the discretion of the player. As long as you write clearly and correct your spelling, we're pretty easy going on format.
On Role Playing
Before even starting your post, go to the most current OOC (Out of Character Commentary) thread and catch up on the most recent activity. If there’s a story change, it will be posted there.
When you’re ready to start writing, begin by indicating your character's location, so your character's position can be more easily tracked and possibly corrected if necessary as the RP goes on. Also, ALL players need to take note of these location tags. Just recently, Inara was in two different places in Act 11 in the RP - the dining room with Merz (in Rowan's lap? woo!), and outside with Thorne.
And no matter what - COMMUNICATE. Character reactions can be so much richer if you share your ideas and character nuances with your fellow players. Often other players can give you insight to your character that you may not have considered or deemed relevant, or propel you toward a move you didn’t anticipate.

I play a great RPing game at Cantr II ( www.cantr.net) and I have a little bit to say about RPing.
This is my style of rping. You create the character by creating a personality (how he or she will react in situations). Then you play. Each event that character is in or witnesses adds to the character and who he or she is.
The main thing about rping is not what you would do in the given situation. It is rather what your character would do in a given situation by way of personality and the events that have made that character. Sometimes what your character would do is not what you would do which is what has to be remembered. I also hate the style of roleplaying where the player will do everything, even personality changes tha go against the character's character, to keep their character alive. Naturally your character will want to survive (some might not though) but they must survive in their own personality range and character.
Remember, when you play a character you are doing what the character would do and not what you would do. That is the main poin of RPing.
