Just spent 4 days in NYC(fantastic time thanks).Caught Castle on the hotel tv.Watched Dancing with the stars before that and then watched my first ever Castle.I think it rocks but I have one moan about US tv. How in God's name can you get into any show when there is an ad break every five minutes? I eventually gave up. More ads than tv.Bloody annoying.

DVR - Digital Video Recorder, one of the few bright spots for the peasants in an otherwise bleak tv landscape. 
Your show starts at 7:00 pm so you set the DVR and start watching at 7:15 and skip through all the commercials. It's not perfect but it is a lot better.
There's also the Holy Mute Button - the inventor should get a nickel each time it's used.
I'd prefer to buy a license (I think that's what you do) what's it up to these days in the UK?

Our tv license is a big con.You pay about £110 per year.It is only paid to the BBC, who broadcast on four channels.The only reason we pay for the BBC is because they are not a commercial station and thus don't advertise products.Every other channel has ad breaks. However,the ads are about 20 mins apart so a one hour show will have 3 breaks as opposed to US 10 or so. The contention with the BBC is that you have to pay the license even if you don't watch a single BBC programme.So some would contend that they become commercialised and drop the license fee.But then again, I suppose tradition demands that they remain a public broadcast institution and aren't controlled by the market.The argument rages on.
