They're both so good, it's hard to decide.

Never seen Bones...see a LOT of NCIS. So for me the choice is easy. The only thing I don't like about NCIS is...wait for it...Abby. I know - that's about the most hateful, puppy-kicking comment you've read today (outside of the RWED, anyway). But at some point - between 2nd and 3rd season, near as I can tell - they turned her character into a parody of itself. The babbling, the pouting, and pre-adolescent low-key tantrums get on my nerves, and I find myself saying aloud, several times per episode, "Shut up, Abby!" Were I in Gibb's shoes, she'd be getting dope-slapped every time she turns around.

And if all that sounds harsh...I agree - it is. Largely I'm just bitter. Abby was a way cool character for the first couple of seasons - sly and quirky, with just enough of the Gibb's-little-girl thing to make things interesting. And then, there she was - an overgrown, hyper-intelligent 3-year-old with a quirky fashion sense. Reminds me of what they did to the Radar character on M*A*S*H...'cept in Abby's case, instead of a teddy bear, they saddled her with a farting hippo.

Gee, I feel better now - thank you for the opportunity!

WWMWD? (What would Michael Westen do?)

So, ummmm, NCIS is that show with Jessica Alba's first husband and long-hairs pretending to be in the United States Navy, and Bones is the show with the reasonably genius-level characters and Firefly references and Serenity actors and Due South alumni but that retarded guy pretending to be an FBI agent? Is that right?

I'd go with Bones for now. NCIS often seems too much scene-jumping, no scene transition, for my tastes.

So, Wash, I guess there's no need for me to ask my NEXT question, who'd you rather have in your lab, Abby or Angela? lol !

Wow!

I think I get 'some' of what you're saying about Abby, but I find it bewildering that there could be that much animosity over her character. And I'm totally lost on the hippo comment.

I really like both shows, and it's a daily battle for me to decide which to watch, as they tend to come on at the same time. I lean toward watching NCIS the most, since it's been on longer and I've seen fewer episodes.

I REALLY like when USA or TNT show eps back to back to back. Soo satisfying to watch in almost DVD fashion something you really enjoy, and don't have to wait a full week to get your fix on.

much like washnwear, i've not seen a single episode of bones, but i've seen pretty much every NCIS episode(haven't bothered with NCIS LLCoolj yet)
loved the show from the beginning, from the eps of jag that spawned the show, that i happend to catch glimpses of during my breaks at work ( the local CBS was the only channel that would come in clearly)
for me Abby was the reason i started watching the show. just always had a thing for brainy gothic types.

as for the hippo comment, much like Radar had his teddy bear, Abby has a stuffed Hippo (Humphrey ?)that essentially has a whoopie cushion in it. if you squeeze him, he "farts"

Oh yeah, now I remember. Duh! Someone had to sleep in her lab once, and she gave them the Hippo to use as a pillow, if I recall.

I've no where near seen every episode, and have just recently ( the past 6-8 months ) started watching as often as I can, catching up as best I can.

Losing Kate was rough. Ziva is a great addition to the team, and I hate to make direct comparisons in 'either or ' fashion. I like both, very much.

For me, Both. I know. How can I love both equally, but I do. In my household you will find boxsets of both and they get watched the same amount.

See I don't like Kate anywhere near as much as ZIva. If Kate had been a real Secret Service agent she'd be a lot more used to the way Tony acts and such...

I adore Abby and I think she provides excellent contrast to the others....
and the hippo's name is Bart. The person who slept on him was Ducky's mom who was in the lab while Ducky worked on the " meat puzzle"

I adore both shows and it would be hard to choose. I think what makes these shows better than the CSI trinity is the humour and fun they weave in through the science. The characters are more enjoyable and even though there is drama and conflict there is also fun....

and I really dislike the NCIS spin off.. curse all the late coming NCIS fans who made it popular enough to have spin off...curse you all

I think I have to agree. I love both, equally.

MSA - A 100 pardons for being a 'late comer ' to the party, but that's just been my M.O. , especially since Firefly. As for the spin off, it's really a different animal. I've only seen it once, but so far, not much interest. I'll not give up on it, yet, but it seems so far lacking any sort of a spark for me.
