What a GREAT movie! It tells what it was like growing up in Iran in the latter part of the 20th Century as seen through the eyes of a young girl/woman. Just astonishingly well made/written.
But see it with English subtitles in the French language.

Been a while since I've seen it, but yes, very good film.

Another non-super comic-based film, too.

I agree, great film. I rented it from Netflix earlier in the year, and I now have the collected graphic novel although I haven't read it yet.

The graphic novel is even better than the film! Much more detailed, but not in an overwhelming way.

I read it shortly before the election and protests in Iran this year, which made following the news that much more heartbreaking.

Hows the action scenes and special effects?

A movie & graphic novels that depict our fellow human brothers & sisters enduring that which we have been fortunately spared.
And it's/they're funny as well.
Remarkable.

Quite good, actually. But 100% hand-drawn, no CGI at all. Very old-school & organic. And very affecting for that artistic choice, IMO.

I agree, great film. I was pretty bummed when Pixar took the Oscar that year and it was left with just a nomination. As much as I love Pixar and as exposed as I am to it, Rattatoie was nothing compared to Persepolis.
