The Ace of Cakes Season 7 premiere is on its way! The one-hour premiere will be airing Sunday, July 19th at 10:0pm, and then again on Thursday, July 23rd at 10pm. The season opener features Duff's recent trip to Alaska, as well as all kinds of flying machine cakes : A flying pig, the Hubble Telescope, and Firefly's Serenity ship. It should be pretty rad, set your Tivos.

That was awesome. Too bad they couldn't have spend a little more time on that segment of the show, but hey hopefully a few more people in this world just Googled Firefly for the first time.

Actually . . .

I was a little disappointed. In the cake and the coverage of it. Just a mention that the customer loved the show, that they put the person who didn't normally do "spaceship" cakes on this one, the little blip with forgetting the "wings", etc. But even the bit of the reveal to the customer was a just a little blip and that was it.

Don't get me wrong. Any shout out to Firefly is awesome and perhaps this will drum up a bit of interest. But the cake, although taking some time to assemble, still looked like it was just slapped together. But that's just me. I felt a little cheated. Granted I don't know what my reaction would be if it were a cake made for ME. I'd probably be pretty excited. I just think they coulda done better . . . put a little more effort into it . . . but the gal who normaly does "spaceship" cakes on the job to do it some justice.

Now, I should also mention I'm not a huge fan of Ace of Cakes, Charm City or Duff. It think most of his stuff is just layer cake, fondant and rice crispy treats. But that's just me. Not saying I could do what he does, either . . . just sayin' . . .

It was cool, but I agree I had hoped the segment would be longer. Still, good to see it on tv.

It was someones birthday I believe.

I record the episode and even stayed up to watch it. Yeah, I kept waiting for them to show the cake at a party and the crowds reaction. Instead they spent a whole lot of time on Duff in Alaska. *sigh*

For the 40th of one of our FFF memebers. It was a very sweet gesture and I loved the cake, but still it would have been nice to have a brief blip explaining browncoats and the cancelled show etc...
I just realized we're all so intent on converting we kinda get carried away.

I thought the thread was talking about the birthday cake they made for Simon, in "Out of Gas". It was rather original.
