We're doing it again. Saturday June 20th We've got a new theatre and a more central location. This is what's happening:
This is what is happening in Toronto the next 2 months:
May 23/24 We will have a table at Anime North. Pick up your tickets there , buy some merchandise or just stop by to chat.
May 30 A Garage sale! We are raising money to pay for all the costs of this venture so that everything we make in ticket sales and the like, can go straight to Equality Now. We've organized an entire street sale to pull more people in but you'll know the Can't Stop The Serenity Crew by our gorgeous Tshirts from past years and our posters. Drayton and Woodrow, just east of the Coxwell Danforth intersection will be the streets.
June 6th Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog. This will be the first public appearance of the good (bad?) Doctor in Toronto. This should be a fun one! North York Central Library Auditorium, 5120 Yonge St.. The Yonge subway line has a stop right there. Doors open 7:15 and we have to be out of there by 9:00 but there are several nice pubs in the area...
Cost is only $5.00 and of course it all goes to Equality Now once the room rental is paid for. We are expecting a lot of new people to this event - those who were introduced to Whedony goodness from this Internet Sensation. Costumes encouraged.
Sorry. No working Freeze Rays allowed.
June 20 Finally! The Big Day. Serenity on the big screen again. The Bloor Cinema, 506 Bloor St. West, right by the Bathurst Subway. Doors open at 12:30 with the movie starting about an hour later but you'll want to get there early in order to browse the merchandise table and pick up your Tshirt. We'll have door prizes and some amazing Auction items. Then, (of course!) we'll head off for food and drink.
Tickets are $12.00 in advance, at any of the events above or through paypal on our website. They are $15.00 at the door. The Bloor is a beautiful old theatre recently renovated. Where else will you get updated sound but a chance to sit in twin"love seats" in the balcony?
We have many people who come into Toronto just for this. If you let us know you are coming, we'll be sure to make you feel welcomed.

The Dr. Horrible Singalong was a lot of fun. We had 70 people singing along, waving their arms in the air and raising money for Equality Now.
But the Serenity Screening next week is the BIG event. We have 3 very shiny articles signed by Joss himself. One is a Buffy item, and 2 are Serenity things. Chances are you'd like all of them.
Some of the other stuff we are auctioning off are so shiny we are getting asked how people can vote on them from afar.
We have some neat surprises before the screening too.
Check out our website for details and come to Toronto's Can't Stop The Serenity.

Right...our Supreme Allied Commander - Lioness - has decreed that the message be pushed forth about Toronto's CSTS screening! So then...let's get down to brass tacks, shall we?
WHO: Toronto Browncoats (which is kind of a misnomer since there's a couple of us n'er-do-wells are from outside the city, but hey...it works!)
WHAT: Can't Stop the Serenity 2009 charity screening of the Big Damn Movie & auction!
WHERE: The Bloor Cinema, 506 Bloor Street West, Toronto ON (across the street from the Pauper's Pub)
HOW MUCH: $12 for pre-ordered tickets (visit http://torontoserenity.blogspot.com and look on the right-hand side of the page) or $15 if purchased at the screening! And don't forget, since we're selling things like screening t-shirts and other goodies, plus doing an auction, bring some extra coin and see if you can't pick up something nice, huh?
WHEN: Saturday, June 20th, 2009, with doors opening at 12:30 for a TENTATIVE 1:30 PM start and things wrapping up by 5:30 PM. A dinner shindig is being held across the street staring after 5:30 PM.
WHY: Well...isn't it obvious? Raise some $$$$ for Joss' favourite charity, watch the Big Damn Movie with friends and like-minded Browncoats, and throw a shindig to celebrate our continued support of Joss' magnum opus!
So...come for the film and stay for the door prize draws and goodies auction! We got such niceties as 2 Blu Ray players, a glass etching done by our own Alex Kung signed by Joss and a Firefly-class transport's worth of Whedon-related shiny!
