I just got a HUGE kick out of this and it's probably been posted already, but I'm watching "Trash" right now.
Giggle #1 - my 4 year old is watching with me and she's convinced this is "Our Miss Reynolds" because of Saffron. She keeps insisting we've already seen this one (she hasn't, I have of course).
Giggle #2 - the subtitles are on because I can't turn them off without doing a couple things and I'm just too lazy. When Mal calls Saffron "Yosaffbridge" the subtitles say "(Speaks Chinese)". That is Hi-larious!!
Throughout the DVD's there have been a couple spots when the people typing out the dialogue for the subtitles were either apathetic or uninformed. They didn't know and just didn't care. They didn't catch the subtle joke there. In "Safe" when Mal tells Simon that his talent for alienatin' folks is darn near miraculous, the subtitles say the dialogue is indistinguishable.
Zoe: "Get it running again."
Mal: "Yeah"
Zoe: "So not running now"
Mal: "Not so much"

The biggest subtitle mistake was in "The Message," in the scene where Tracey backs down off the bridge and takes Kaylee hostage. He shouts out, "Gorrammit, Mal!" but the original dvd subtitle reads "You're a rabbit, Mal!"
That has been corrected on the Blu-Ray release.

And, now there are t-shirts that say "You're a rabbit, Mal!" LOL!

In Serenity Pilot "Cry Baby Cry" is subtitled (lyrics). I thought that quite lame.
Regarding subtitles, I just cat-sat for a week in a house with a 60inch and Dish HD, and saw Ashes to Ashes TV show.
Seems to be a BBC show, and one character seems to have subtitles frequently popping up under him. He has a thick accent from either Scottish or Irish regions, and I found it humorous that they subtitled somebody speaking (theoretically) the English language. Sorta like Jive in Airplane!

LOL! I can believe that they subtitled someone who was speaking English. I saw a TV news magazine story recently of the drug epidemic of the poorer peoples of the Appalachian mountains. I grew up in the feet of those mountains, so I'm very familiar with the dialect. However, in the news story they had these people subtitled, and I felt very weird because I could understand them completely.

I want to see what "happened" to Jive in the verse.
I would loan my copy of ff out for half a year to see verseJibe.
Please someone do this. I want to laugh as hard as I did when I rented that movie.
Done with demands for today

EDIT: Mal is really a Pig, at least according to my hasty calculations. If so, that would make ZOE a Rabbit. Does that even fit?

To help with that, this might work - you find the script of your episode (see BlueSun Forum, Writer's Resource Package thread), and use the linking function after selecting Jive Dialect:

Good Luck.

Re-watched that episode last night and saw that. How hilarious! They're either using some type of "talk-to-text" software or just weren't paying attention.

I knew he couldn't have possibly said, "You're a rabbit, Mal," but I hadn't watched the episode enough times to figure it out (duh!)
There are t-shirts? (hehe, do you have a link?) That's pretty awesome. Some of the subtitling is fairly awful though, I agree. YoSaffBridge is one of the more egregious errors, IMO.
