Dark Angel was better than Dollhouse.

Don't get me wrong, with the second ep of Dollhouse I am now a hardcore fan; I thought it was superb.
But let's face it, it does cover some of the same territory that Dark Angel did- Raven-haired beauty searching for herself, skin views for the adolescents, The Questionable Secret Organization, cool fighting, gunplay, not-quite-but-almost-there science, and, er, did I mention skin views for the adolescents?
DA was just larger in scope, probably due to the budget thrown into Cameron's lap, and the casting & chemistry was spot on from jump.
Joss will no doubt explore some crazy new stuff DA might never have touched, and we'll see, but for me, NO series beats a show that has the line "Girls kick ass; says so on a tee shirt."
Except one that has "I'll be in my bunk."

Nothing to discuss...peeps must just agree with my assessment.

I'm going to avoid the Dollhouse threads for a while. The show isn't really grabbing me, so I'm going to do what I always do when I'm having a hard time getting into a show one hour at a time: I'm going to let the DVR grab 2 or 3 eps and then mini-marathon them. If I can watch 2 or 3 hours of a show and STILL not be sucked into its universe, then it isn't worth my time.
As such, I'll be missing Dollhouse (I'm sure my ratings will still count, since it's being recorded by the DVR) for weeks at a time, and I'll have to avoid spoilerishness.
I *loved* Dark Angel, at least the first season. Then something happened, and I just lost interest. Let's hope that doesn't happen with Dollhouse. Well, let's hope it GETS more than one season, and that it doesn't lose its way.

I'll compare after I see more than 2 episodes of Dollhouse. I enjoyed Dark Angel for season 1 then I lost interest, I don't really remember why. I don't really remember much of the details of what Dark Angel was even about, I just remember I enjoyed watching the first season.
So far Dollhouse is awesome, the premiere was a little meh, but enjoyable, the second episode was awesome, it left me thinking about it for a few days and theorizing which is what I like in a show.

Neither one caught my fancy. They don't sell the character, even more than they don't sell the world.

I've got to agree with the others, I'll reserve judgement until more of Dollhouse has aired. Whedon shows seem to get better as they go, as shown in Buffy and Angel, and even if not, I'm liking what I've seen so far, just looking forward to getting into the 'main story' which is promised to be coming after a few more episodes.
That said, I'm yet to watch Dark Angel! I've got season 1 and 2 (that's all there is, yes?) and it's just a case of sitting down and watching it all, as I have WAY too many shows to watch lately.
(Dollhouse, Chuck, HIMYM, Big Bang Theory, Trust Me, Fringe, Lost, Gary Unmarried, Heroes, Psych, Scrubs, and I've recently started watching 2 Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place, as I'd never watched it before and want some Fillion goodness)

Ironic comparison.
Dark Angel vs Dollhouse.
I hated DA with a passion for the only reason that it stole the name of a novel I wrote back in '95. No connection but the name, but I knew that if I ever got it published, people would assume it was based on the series.
I like DH, but the premise is somewhat similar to a story idea that's been brewing in my head for some time, only mine was set in the 80's. It's not identical, but if I ever wrote it now I'm sure the comparisons would arise, and I don't want to be accused of stealing from Josh.
I hate tv.

Chrisisall,
Your love for Dark Angel puzzles me. It was average in it's first season. Second season....unwatchable.
Equaling A really good idea translating to a mediocre show that went down hill so fast that it makes heads spin.
I do agree abut the similarities of Dollhouse and DA. They are similar, but I promise you if we see a second season of Dollhouse it will blow Dark Angel off the face of the earth. Forever.

Eliza's easy to look at, no question, but there's just no beating Max and her pouty face as she's kicking the hell out of the bad guys.
