SyFyPortal is saying that Terminator TSCC may be cancelled as early as this week because of falling ratings. It debuted last year with 11's and is down to 4's and 3's. For those of you who do not know they are really bad for network TV. That means production will stop too. Watch this week and help her!!!

With Fox in charge, how could it NOT fail?

Fox has it on Monday night against heavy competition.

Fox has it on at 8 pm, should be 9 or 10pm

Figures, just as the show is really getting better and hitting its' stride ( Emmy-worthy Alison from Palmdale episode ), all this cancellation talk starts up.

I really hope it doesn't go down. But it is Fox so I guess they just had to screw it up. Again.

You know the old saying about a room full of monkeys with typewriters....
Well they all work in the scheduling and marketing sections of Fox.

It does not look good for Dollhouse.
I hate to say it but I just don't think they will 'get' this show, so it will go the way of the Dodo as well.

With ratings like that, it's a pretty safe bet that it'll be pulled before November sweeps, at the least.

Best case scenario at this point, pull it for a couple months, bring it back after American Idol (which helps the ratings of any show it's paired with), and start tying the marketing to Terminator: Salvation, which will likely start advertising with the Superbowl in January.

As much as everyone likes to blame FOX, I don't see how they're to blame. It's in the timeslot it did well in last spring. It's been advertised well. People just aren't clicking with it, for the most part. It dropping 2/3 of it's audience in the same slot isn't the network's fault. The only main difference is that it's not leading into 24, but even then, prior to this year Prison Break was a pretty decent hit, too.

I for one, really liked the first season, but thought the writing at the beginning of this season was pretty weak, and havn't been as dilligent about watching it as a result.

Guys, settle down.

THE SKY(NET) IS NOT FALLING.

http://www.exisle.net/mb/index.php?showtopic=54546

I won't quote ('cause they tend to frown on that on Ex Isle; private posts have been misappropriated before by non-forumites, but I post there myself and will vouch for you guys), but direct your attention to MuseZack's post (second in the thread).

MuseZack is Zack Stentz, Writer, Executive Story Editor, and Co-Producer of the gorramn show. He knows of what he speaks.

Do not panic.

Good to read. I don't think it'll be cancelled. Chances are the network will want to see if they can ride the coat-tails of the new movie for a bit.

But, I'd still bet it goes on hiatus very soon. Ratings like that will kill their ad rates durring Nov sweeps, so they'll almost inevitably plug something else in for a while.

I really do'nt like the direction the show went, I thought they'd continue with them in High School. What about the girl who killed herself and the paint on the doors, and the nerd who wanted to take Cameron to the prom? The show has gotten very dark.

The whole franchise is about the coming apocalypse and the possible extinction of the human race, and you think it wrong that the show is dark?

I guess you'd rather see Cameron go to the prom with the dork, and maybe plant flowers and play with rabbits? Geez, get a clue why don't you.

There is something to be said for following up on plot threads. The first season introduced these elements, without flowers and rabbits. Writing can be good and dark, and still incorporate many elemnts. So, you might want to invest in a clue yourself before being so reactionary.

I'm not saying that they should have dropped certain plot lines, I was simply replying to whozit's complaint about the show being dark.

I am happy to see one of the writers saying the show is in no immediate danger of being cancelled.

I am digging the show and I have to say the dark premise is spot on since it is a "we're fighting to prevent the end of humanity" theme.

I watch T:TSCC on tv when it airs and catch Chuck on Hulu later in the week.

I think TSCC has an angle because the next Terminator film shows up in eight months, and it would be bad krma to have the TV show canceled before the movie rolls out.

T:TSCC ranked #60 in the ratings with 5.4 million viewers, that's more than Prison Break's 5.3 million viewers, and I've heard no rumors of Prison Break being canceled. (T:TSCC is on before Prison Break) Finishing #60 out of over 110 prime time shows does'nt suck that bad, atleast 60 is far from the bottom.

60 out of 110 isn't very good, either. The big problem is, that it's coming in 4th for it's timeslot, and is 3rd place for it's target demographic.

Another discouraging point, it's currently doing worse than last year's Fox show K-Ville, which was cancelled after half a year.

It's in a death slot, with two other shows that appeal to the same demo (geeks, basically). Maybe the current Fox programmers can grasp that. Normally one positions shows so they are not directly competing with another show that appeals to the same demo (in terms genre preference, not just age.)

This just in: Fox has requested two more scripts (eps 14 and 15) for season 2.

http://fox.com/blogs/terminator/2008/10/09/status-update/

Quote:

While the fate of the show past production on episode thirteen is still unclear, FOX has given us the go-ahead to write two more additional episodes for this season — fourteen and fifteen.

We are hard at work writing those episodes and await news of a potential pickup for the full “back nine” (additional episodes to complete the season) in the near future. We’re crossing our fingers (and dotting our i’s) that we’ll have more good news to share with you soon…

I'm taking this as a good sign.

I'm thinking that takes them into January, after football and some of the other distractions go away. Gives them a chance to see what the show can do in a fair fight. Although I'm thinking they may have to suspend production for a while if they don't order more shows before the end of November. Anyone know which episodes they have in the can so far?

Don't know where they are now, but production is going to 13 episodes (that's contractual, and money's already changed hands; even if Fox does kill 'em, there'll be 13 eps in the can before production stops).

The idea behind ordering scripts before giving an official greenlight is that, when they do order the back nine, production will be able to continue without a hiccup (because, if there're no scripts ready, they have to halt production while the writers work). When a renewall comes in, the crew'll go right ahead producing those two unfilmed scripts while the writers continue working ahead to ep 22 (then they'll likely begin hiatus a few weeks before the crew does ['cause they have to come back a few weeks before the crew does]).

The impression I get over on Ex Isle is that this is all S.O.P.; there should be a pickup order coming in before ep 13 goes into post.

The sad truth is, since Sarah & Cameron are not in T3, this series is going to end sad.

The series is in an alternate timeline from T3. They time-jumped from 1999 to 2007 in the pilot episode last year, which negates any action that led up to T3. Since T4 is set in the future war, it is possible the series will be the one to end well, with Sarah and John successful in stopping Skynet.

Ratings, Ratings, Ratings... that is all Fox wants, well they need to pick their battles better. They are going up against Chuck and Dancing with the Stars which are huge right now and then Chuck is followed by Heroes.

Thursday Night is wide open for a SciFi show like this and would go up against Survivor and My Name is Earl. Who even watches that drivel anymore. Just a thought. Fox will probably switch to the death spot on Friday and then cancel it.

Makes me wonder about Dollhouse with such brainpower running Fox.

Ratings are all any network wants, really. Nature of the game. but really, Chuck's ratings are comperable to what SCC had last season, and Heroe's ratings are falling like a meteor, so they're not totally to blame.
