OK it's way too quiet. Imponderable time. Let's say you're married (whether you are or not...whatever) and your significant other comes into some money where they make a bit more than their current salary per year without having to do anything. They decide this means they can retire and do nothing for the rest of their life but you would still need to work for your combined budget to work. How would you feel about the situation? (this is more or less from a dear abbey type thing a friend of mine reads...it really is a friend and not me...seriously it is!)

Zeek- I'd say ok but the stay at home does all the chores. Laundry, cooking, cleaning, errands. That way it's fair and balanced. Like a stay at home parent vs working parent. They are each contributing. Does that help

HUGS and HUGS FLT. Sweety I promise it will be ok.

I think I'd be jealous out of my mind. The person in the article was insane or at least the guy portrayed her that way. He said something about her being stressed at work and that she wanted him to be stressed too. Whatever that means.

That wouldn't be my problem though. I'd just be incredibly jealous that I still have to get up every Monday morning to go to work and my wife gets to sleep in an not have to worry about much.

Really the way I see it is that the couple should continue working so that their combined salaries will get them both to retirement as a couple that much quicker. Wouldn't you want your significant other to be able to go on long trips with you or do whatever it is you enjoy doing together? Seems to make more sense to me.

ooh that's a good idea too Zeek... but hey if you worked but knew you were coming home to a clean house, cooked meals, and all those pesky errands taken care of, you might not feel as stressed and get to enjoy time once work was done
Unless you're a freak like me who finds cooking soothing and would rather cook after work than anything...also ( sick though this is) I really like cleaning ( well not the cleaning itself, btu when you finish and it's all clean and smells nice and you feel like you've accomplished something ...) ok I know I'm weird weird weird

If you're weird for those reasons then so am I. I spent several hours prepping and cooking last night (BBQ chicken, salmon on a cedar plank with plenty of dill, potato salad, corn on the cobb, and some fresh green beans), then as soon as I took the chicken off the grill, I left the other 5 people at my house to eat it and went straight out to run an errand.

I just had a devious thought MsB. You make the brownies and poison them, charging a ransom for the antidote. :)

I just want you to have plenty of opportunity to do what you enjoy

I understand the baked goods thing. I made churros for the austin browncoats superbowl party and now they bring them up all the time. For instance they're planning to go to a midnight opening screening of iron man and I posted that I might go too. They were like "no midnight screening is complete without churros". Bleh.

I really wouldn't mind making them if it didn't result in a bunch of dishes to have to clean.

Good morning Ponderers.

Zeek. I'd just run to the local Panaderia and pick up a dozen or so and mention that you didn't have time (or energy in other cases) to make any but you did still bring some. Sure it's not the same but it will save you the horror of cleaning.

I am a bit jealous. I miss being out in the wild for a day and coming home to drink beers and to cook a ton of food for the family. It must be age or something but I just can't do it as much anymore.

Maybe I'm just playing harder now. (shrugs)

Stayed home today as I am worn out and needing rest (read as "Being a puss")

Watched an awesome flick caled Southland Tales last night (finished this morning since I kept pasing out).

If y'all liked Repoman, Strange Days, or Donnie Darko this is definately one to see. Very powerful and has an ensemble cast to die for that sidesteps the showboating and really rocks in character (look/listen for Kevin Smith).

Do they have pets? Nothin' says get the fuck out of the neighborhood like a pet that's been dissected violently on the hood of a car.

You could cut their phone/cable/power lines when they aren't home (or when they are, but you're more likely to be caught/suspected).

Call the police anonymously and tell them they are making crack in their apartment/house and that it smells horrible.

I suppose at the very least you could get them in trouble for noise ordinance violations, which also involves calling the police.

(Shares hate for stupid people)

Good morning folks. On FLT's ponder I'd have to say wait for an embarassing opportunity to surface (family visiting etc.) and have loud raucous sex against the wall closest their meeting. Maybe saunter over half naked and ask if they have some ice, a dog collar, and some corndogs you can borrow. Definately tell your landlord about their sound issues as I'm sure there is some local ordinance against it.

But y'all know me. If all else fails just get a bigger gun.

SO I have this thing against the annoying ice cream truck that frequents our area. I want to post up in the attic so's to hose him down with a hopper full of paint but MSB is against it. Read the paper today about some little assholes shooting out windows with airguns. Seems I might have me a project and a target for Ice Cream Truck Angst.

FLT I'm not much help on this ponder. I had the same sort of problem with the guy in the apartment above me. I told the apartment office no dice. I called the police on him. That worked for one night. The final solution was moving. That one worked.

Also IRON MAN ROCKED! That movie was everything I could have hoped for. Great action. Great characters. Gwenith Paltrow looking super hot with red hair. Other hotties. Tony Stark being an all around role model (rich, cocky, smart and total ladies man). 5 stars! I want a sequel now!

We have an annoying little turd over the road from us, who has about four cars, in various states of disrepair, over his own drive and the neighbours. He likes to rev them up at unsociable hours, and has one particularly obnoxious little friend who likes to burn rubber up and down the road.

The biggest problem I have is Husband, who wishes to unleash his inner Jayne upon them. (Probably because they remind him of his own petrolhead youth )

It disturbs me to think how well he would get on with NV...so far we have had some ingeniuos thoughts involving expanding decorator's foam...(The problem with the mechanically minded, they DO know how to wreck your day.)

Still have no kitchen, so may have to go out for dinner, and maybe catch Iron Man. Guess there's an upside somewhere...

Queen Zeebug declares Friday, Friday and the work week over forthwith.

She also has heard from Gwyneth Paltrow who requests her name to be spelled correctly. ;)

She believes FLT should compliment upstairs neighbors on their skillz in the sack, and congratulate them on finding such...vocal... partners. This may make them self-conscious enough to keep that particular noise level down a bit. Queen Zeebug also believes that if you are moving in a month you should suck it up about the speakers. It's just not worth the probable backlash.

Now, go forth and weekend. :D

This day was nearly unbearable. The only thing that got me through was daydreaming about gveneth paletrou.

No seriously I decided to work from home since I was out so late at Iron Man. Then I find out that something is jacked up with the software that lets me access my companies intranet. It left me able to access their intranet but no internet. I was only able to get it to work briefly when I posted before. Then it went right back to no internet.

No sleep and no internet make Zeek go crazy.

RF: lolz, well i dont live in the country, or the city, and round here, for some reason ppl are pretty diverse in their music selection (probably cuz ppl from all of the country go here @_@) but generally when the neighbors (upstairs) start humping something like Disturbed or Godsmack does the trick, cuz we've tried it our nextdoor neighbors just dont care cuz they blast music anyway, (usually the heavy stuff) and since neither myself nor the boyfriend like country, and ergo have none of it in our collections, we resort to punching the wall and yelling at them to shut up, or just mocking how stupid they sound, cuz they sound like a buncha retards @_@

FLT, I believe you mentioned in a previous post that you would damage somebody's cat if provoked.

This is not funny. Even said in jest.

Nobody should contemplate harming animals for fun. (And if you kill 'em for food/hide, do it humanely.) And having recently lost my own big, beautiful fat-boy cat, I'm quite upset by the idea.

OK need to clean the house...really a lot
Poor NV has to spend the whole weekend ( after last weekend's massive activity and a long week of moving offices, painting etc) teaching classes so he's getting no weekend at all. Then he has to re-certify on the ROPES course ( kind of like basic training in terms of physical activity level) all week next week for 8 hours a day and will also have to go into the office some to deal with stuff....so he just might collapse...

Like this:

words

*The standard font size on this board is 2, so any number above that makes the font bigger, and 1 makes it smaller.

I know it seems painful now, but it really teaches you more than the easier exams.

I took a psych course once where they literally gave you the exams ahead of time so you could study for what would be on there. I aced that class so hard that I literally did not show up for the final. I could get a zero on it and still have an A. Once I did the math on that one I just ditched the last lectures and took my A. That really was a poorly taught course.

It's much better to have an exam that could have anything on it. It makes you buckle down and learn all the material.

Yeah I'm with Zeek... it forces you to study and review all materials and repetition makes it easier to remember and form connections to information. Remember that you don't just need this info to pass the test. You'll need it all the time. So try to find a way to actually remember not just cram it..

yeah, it teaches me that i still haven't gotten over the crying-cuz-i-can't-write-under-pressure thing ive been living with since i started the Connecticut Mastery Tests when i was nine. i'd've thought i'd be better at that by now, but i spent 20 minutes counting doubles to get myself to stop crying cuz ralph waldo emerson wasn't makin a god damn fucking lick of sense.

none of my teachers give us the exams ahead of time, and i dont want them to (that's a shitty way to teach a class, and ur prof should be fired for doing that @_@), it's just, when you have actual material in the form of notes u can study from and relate to to refresh ur memory, it makes things less stressful. The exams i take could have anything on it, hence why I have to study ALL the material covered up to that point, which tends to be a lot. no teacher expects us to remember material from five weeks ago, hence the notes to study from.

no teacher should give u a test u cant study for. ever.
