Seriously, this is the best match I've ever seen, especially at the price of $17.00 plus shipping. The only big thing I have noticed is that the buckles on these boots are brass instead of pewter (or whatever you use for silver colored metal on boots), but the number of buckles, the positioning, and the type of buckles are all great matches. Everything works. Too bad I already have a pair of another type, but maybe someday!

EDIT: My bad, it seems there's an extra buckle/strap - the bottom one. But you could probably remove that, and it's still the best match I have seen as of yet. There should only be three buckle/straps on each boot in the movie.

These boots are taller, so you'd either fold the tops down or get them tailored (I have no idea how much it would cost to get somebody to chop off leather and sew the edges so they just don't look like crap), but they have more of the strappy slightly slouchy yet fitted feel of River's boots in the movie. Still brass buckles, but this time, they are REALLY the right number! Plus, whereas the first set of boots seem to be a soft suede, these boots are made of the shiny (but not patent) leather like the boots in the movie, and THAT I haven't seen anywhere with this style - I've only found suede before! These cost $28.00.

The problem with knee-high boots is that in most pairs you need to have super skinny legs to get into them. The only pair I've found that will fit my average-sized calves have elastic in the legs. I don't know about these boots (which are a pretty close match to River's!), but I'd like to try them on before buying.

That sucks - you must have had really bad luck with boots, though, because I have average size calves. ::shrugs:: Of course, I like my boots tight - though the ones I currently have for my River boots are a bit loose...
