_______________________________________________
We represent a newly-formed unit of Independent soliders at the outbreak of the hostilities (prior to Du Khang and Serenity Valley).
First and foremost, remember that this is a fan-based organization, and our first rule is "Show up. March. Have Fun!"

Our inaugural march will be taking place at DragonCon in Atlanta in September of 2007. Until that date, we ask all recruits to refrain from wearing the uniform in public.

We do have a few rules and regulations that must be met in order to be considered as a member, including uniform requirements and weapons requirements. These will be outlined below. Please be sure to read over all the information and confirm that you can meet all of these requirements before applying for membership. We are not trying to keep people out, but we do want to present a united, uniform Battalion of Independent soldiers, and one of the best ways to do this is to look the same.

There are two basic types of uniforms we will be using: Type A and Type B.

Type A will use Mal as a model:

This "uniform" consists of the following:
•Pants with brown stripes up the sides of the legs – please see below for approved merchants.
•An undershirt – black or brown, long-sleeved. Button-ups are acceptable but preferably without a high collar.
•The red vest that the CO has designed. You may either purchase from him or ask for a pattern and fabric swatch.
•The overcoat that the CO has designed. You may either purchase from him or ask for a pattern and fabric swatch.
•Helmet – needed for parade, but other head coverings approved for non-marching appearances (see below).
•Boots – please see below for approved styles and merchants.
•Scarf – Red for enlisted, blue for officers.
•Dark brown belt – 2” is recommended.

The Type B uniform uses Zoe as a model:

This "uniform" consists of the following:
•Pants with brown stripes up the sides of the legs – please see below for approved merchants.
•An undershirt – black or brown, long-sleeved. Button-ups are acceptable but preferably without a high collar.
•The red vest that the CO has designed. You may either purchase from him or ask for a pattern and fabric swatch.
•The "smock" that is worn underneath the red vest. You may either purchase from him or ask for a pattern and fabric swatch.
•Mail sleeves – please see below for approved choices.
•Helmet – needed for parade, but other head coverings approved for non-marching appearances (see below).
•Boots – please see below for approved styles and merchants.
•Scarf – Red for enlisted, blue for officers.
•Dark brown belt – 2” is recommended.

General notes on the uniforms:
•While in all the battle scenes we have seen on screen the uniforms have seen some wear and tear, our unit will not appear that way. DO NOT distress your parade uniform. This pristine uniform is the first uniform we request you have so that you will be able to represent us properly. If you wish to have a ‘battle worn’ look, we ask that you please reserve this for personal appearances and have this as your secondary uniform.

•Sidearms are left up to the individual (pistol and knife--please have them approved by Command before wearing). You DO NOT have to wear a pistol or knife if you do not want to. Note that all knives will need to be peace-bonded for the duration of any appearance you make in uniform.

•Bags and pouches can help complete your outfit. These are also left up to personal choice, but some options are presented below.

Busy few weekends coming up.

Thinking about hitting the PA Ren Faire this weekend for fun with the kiddies.

Also? Picked up this awesome beret, just the right shade of red for my uniform. So now I won't have to wear the stupid helmet around Dragon*Con next year! Woo! Just gotta wet it and shave it.

Got the blue material for my new scarf, but am missing my new rank insignia for my coat.

It never ends, does it?

Luckily, I don't think there's anywhere else for me to go, so I don't think I'll need any more rank insignia. LOL

Hope you're all wearin' a big ol' smile because you have not been ordered to frown!

Good for you on the uniform assembly Captain Kaele. Got my ownself a beret on the way back from D*C and it is good to go. I'll be getting that shiny blue scarf when I visit the Colonel at the shindig next month. Still got to get my rank insignia. Once I have that I am locked, cocked and ready to rock!

It's a good thing I like apples!

I did not make her eat applesapplesapplesapples. I did cook pumpkinpumkinpumpkin in my spare time.
We had apple fritters at my favorite stand and grabbed some apples off trees, then went to our little zoo, then hit Wegman's (I was shocked to learn they had expanded down to PA!) for lunch and a couple things I'd forgotten.
There was a high school sports team occupying the place. As we had forgotten our airsoft we were forced to wait in line to pay for our food until I could commandeer a table and chairs.
We went home (for me) and some of us napped. There was an assault on roasted pumpkin seeds. We had Chinese takeout (kids loved it!) and then baked apples with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Next day had no apples involved unless you specifically asked for them. Pumpkin either.

See? I *don't* really force feed you on local produce!

If you leave my house hungry, however, it is your own fault.

She forgot to mention that I arrived to a nice hot cup of tea after driving all that long way. Then I woke up to a hug from her adorable son and some delicious pancakes with real maple syrup! Sunday morning was oatmeal with raisins and cranberries and some other fruit I can't recall.

Dang, I ate better at her house than I do at home sometimes...

We had a wonderful time, BTW. It was so nice because it was still rainy, so everywhere we went (excluding the Marching Band occupying Wegman's) was practically deserted. The kids LOVED the zoo and apple picking in the rain and they were all so well behaved and got along wonderfully, which only made the weekend all the better.

And you all missed it. Bleh! Now you'll go next time she invites you!

Hey - for anyone who's interested I started a 'friends of the 76th battalion' group on Facebook...

And if anyone wants to add me or anything my add is: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603506986

And the group address (to join) is: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5935033122&ref=nf

It's not 'officialy sanctioned by command' or anything - just another way to get the word out there - a lot of my friends on facebook are browncoats and several are members of the 76th or fireflyfans, or Serenity Oz so it seemed like a good idea!

EDIT: Hi There Browncoat1! It's almost bedtime for me here! Hope your day is shiny!
