Kinda has a nice ring to it. In Objects in Space I knowticed Jayne is wearing an apron. The manly man's man is cooking flap jacks with an apron on. I've watched this ten times. I can't believe I missed that. He is also talking orders of the abby with Shepherd Book. Who is surprised Jayne is so interested. Book has a calming affect on Mal but with Jayne it looks like a spiritual awakening in him. In the Message Tracy's mom leans over to kiss her boy one last time and Jayne takes off his wool cap with a look of deep sorrow for the lady. Jayne came along way in 13 episodes. Just needed to yak about it.

"Battle of Serenity, Mal. Besides Zoe here, how many-" "I'm talkin at you! How many men in your platoon came out of their alive".

I'm thinking Jayne 'is' what Book 'was' (the exact extent will never be known)... and Jayne sees this, in some instinctual animal manner...

a good chunk of timeline was covered in those 13 episodes as well... another 13 episodes and we might have seen a human side of Jayne, and allow him to be exposed to romantic possibilities, and not just booty calls.

You ever noticed Jayne cusses like a sailor around River, Kaylee, and Inara. Whoops he is on a space boat. Zoe has heard worst in the volunteers. But in Heart of Gold he was charming, funny, and nice to all the hookers. Wash even made a comment on Jayne poeticness. I miss this show.
