... was very disappointing. I felt the need to share that before someone else succumbed to the hype about it being "the scariest movie" ever seen...

My Short Review: British Horror, much like British Humor; you don't HAVE to be British to "get" it... but it helps.

Worth renting, but I would discourage spending the $15 it costs to see a movie in the theatre these days!

If there's enough response to this post, I'll give you my long review...

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

A.) 28 days later was one of the best horror films I've ever seen... and I've seen it six times thus far. It had good dialogue, acting, music, visual effects... it had it all. Most of the people I know who hate all movies loved this film.

B.) Hello? British Comedy? Monty Python...

I think you might have gone in expecting an american horror film... blood, guts, gore, bad acting, and breasts ... which this wasn't at all.
I would so put it up there with the original Alien though.

I'm a fan of Monty Python, though I don't find it as funny as some people do. ...The Holy Grail and Life of Brian are definitely in my list of favorite movies. However, it's true that a lot of people just don't understand British comedy.

Case in point: (SPOILER WARNING)

The drive through the tunnel. Filled with car wrecks and bodies. It became a "fun" little adventure to drive over the debris (apparently on the hoods and roofs of the wrecked cars? wtf?), as they were all laughing and smiling. wheee....

... oh... while we're having some fun, let's take a quick little romp through the grocery store (lights still on and everything!!!), which has been AMAZINGLY UNDISTURBED, even though the doors were unlocked, and the lights were on... hmmm...

As I said, it just didn't rate very highly on my "Scare-O-Meter". Nothing to shock or surprise the viewer.

All in all, it just doesn't live up to the hype, which was the original statement in my post. I'm sure an American version could have been done a LOT better, even if we would have had to deal with the occasional "fan service" of breasts and sex, with a bit of blood and gore!

I liked 28 Days Later. Saw it on opening night. I'm with Zeke, the dialogue, acting, music and visual effects were great. Now it wasn't the "scariest movie" ever but it was still a great film. For me the scariest movie I've ever seen was the Exorcist but other people disagree with me. To each his own. One bit of advice, never go into a film expecting to be scared or thrilled because you won't be. Go in to enjoy a film. You'll get a more harmonious outcome.

Oh, I found the store scene to be a homage to George Romero's Dawn of the Dead. Maybe it was just me?

let me start by saying that i've not seen this movie..., so this response will be a bit off topic. not really my type of thing,more into comdeys myself. I'm just curious what you good folks thought of "House of 1000 Corpses"?

Like all genres I think you need to compare a movie to others in its genre. With comedies you have to rate them on whether it was funny or not, not on big explosions or good acting. Same with a horror/thriller. You need to compare it to other scary movies. Sure 28 Days Later had a few scary parts, but it certainly wasn't the scariest movie ever. Anyways I think the media was saying it was the scariest movie of the summer, not the scariest movie ever. Considering there wasn't any other scary movies this summer, then I would have to agree with them. And for those that thought this movie was the scariest you need to see some other scary movies to see if you still stand behind your comments. For example: The Ring, 13 Ghosts, Phantoms, Jeepers Creepers, The House On Haunted Hill, Pitch Black, The Cell, The Cube, Frailty, Joy Ride, Signs, Ravenous, Resident Evil, Red Dragon, The Sixth Sense, or Stir of Echoes are some of my favorites to come out of the past few years. You should also check out Hitchcocks, Exorcists, Halloweens, and Fridays to expand your horizons a bit.

The movie was perfectly fine and worth paying full price if you are in the mmod to go out. Wasn't the scariest horror movie ever, by far. Not sure what I would label the scariest - Maybe the original "The Haunting".

British Comedy - Come on now! AB FAB, Mr Bean, Black Adder, Graham Norton and Coupling have all had me rolling on the floor.

P.s. They are adding an alternate ending about 4 minutes long to 28 days after July 25.

Morbid and creep-ifying I got no problem with.

The Birds still freaks me out
