What is the SyFy Portal?
SyFy Portal is a Web site dedicated to covering the world of science fiction. It is a news and rumors site, thus both confirmed and unconfirmed news is posted on this site. Everything is properly labeled so, if there is a concern about the validity of the story, it is pointed out in the text. Because rumors are not confirmed, there are times when the information may not be fully accurate. This is expected – although SyFy Portal maintains a very high accuracy rate for its rumors. The site is operated by a group called SyUniverse, led by site editor Michael Hinman. Other members of SyUniverse include Shane Churchman, lead programmer; Bryant Griffin, graphic designer; Brian Meskimen, editor of the SyFy Galactic Newsletter; and Don Smith, project coordinator.
What is the history behind the site?
The site began in 2001 as a collaboration between Michael Hinman, who created SyFy World in 1998, and Greg Boubel, who started Star Trek Portal. Michael Hinman currently handles most of the news reporting on the site, with the help of SFGN editor Brian Meskimen. Boubel no longer is with SyFy Portal.
