Serenity RPG background people

I'm starting a Serenity RPG in a week or so, and I'm still stuck for thinking up the allies/contacts/enemies bit of my character.

Background is that he's an engineer, but has seriously personal issues with engineering. He can't hold down an official job because unless he's drunk or on some kind of narcotic he's in tears and on the point of a breakdown whenever anyone brings him near any kind of machinery.

He ran away from his home on a border planet (not sure which, of the existing ones Triumph seems the most like it, he was part of a land-farming family) and has spent some time in the wild, while going from underhand engineering job to underhand engineering job, with the occasional attempt to get professional, with the usual disasterous results.

Oh, and he likes gardening.

Any ideas, people?
