I was watching the Angel season 2 premiere last night (I finally started buying full seasons!) and when the crew first goes into the karaoke bar, there is a demon singing "I'm so excited..." (by the Pointer Sisters, I believe). Anyway, it looks remarkably like the demon Cribb (the green frog-like guy) from the episode "The Ring" from season 1. I checked on IMDB and it is not the same actor, but they look so much alike, I wonder if the effects department just decided to reuse an old character. Am I out of my gourd or does anyone else think they look similar?

They're not the same character, but they're the same species. This may be a deliberate series reference, or it may be a budget-saving trick (cheaper to use an old costume then make a new one).

The special effects department often reuses demon costumes when they need some random crowd of demons, like in Caritas. For example, the demons that make up the Scourge in Angel Season 1 are largely the same as the demons in the Hell dimension in the Buffy Season 3 episode "Anne."

I can only guess at all the cross references between Buffy and Angel that I'm missing having not seen Buffy, start -> finish. I've caught a few, and been shown lots more, but I know I've only scratched the surface. This is all due to the fact that Firefly was my primary introduction into the Whedon-verse, leading to my great admiration for the Angel series. I'll appreciate Buffy all the more, I think, now that I've grown accustomed to the other characters.

** This got me thinking, sad to say. If I put my Whedon creations in order in terms of interest, it comes out Firefly, Angel, Buffy. (F.A.B.) Which shouldn't be confused w/ AbFab, of which I'm find hi-larious.

I'll stop now.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "
