3rd viewing of Ariel

Not sure if I spelled it right, but just finished watching the ep Ariel for the third time and noticed something... Is the junk part that Alan T. picks up and throws while in the junk yard the part that they needed so bad on Out of Gas (Catalyzer?)?
He just casually throws it and then sees the old ambulance.. but the piece looks just like the broken one in OOG.
