This is a capture of my desktop, with the Serenity Day Countdown timer displayed. You'll need the *free* Yahoo! Widget Engine (from widget.yahoo.com) to run it. The widget is fully configurable and reusable (just reset the message and countdown date from the widget's Properties submenu).

Unfortunately, I can't put the widget itself up here in the BlueSun Room. It's only 128 KB, smaller than this accompanying picture; but the site won't allow a ".widget" filetype to be uploaded. Code-wise, it's pure XML and Java, so not to worry.

So, you'll have to email me in order to get it, and give me a return email address that accepts attachments. A necessary evil, at this point. If someone wants to host the little thing so that everyone can get a copy via straight download, that would be groovy by me (just let me know first, okay?)

By the way, the desktop background is not included, only the widget. Please note that the widget is transparent and that the transparency is user-adjustable. My email address is zoid.firefly@gmail.com.

I could be wrong (because I've never been to the Widget site before) but can't you upload your Widget to the gallery on the site ( http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/ ) ?

By the way, this is my first post here, long LONG time lurker, just never bothered to sign up. :)

It's all xml and java; it gets system and input dates and calculates, then draws windows through doc interface. Looks perfectly safe (simple); snippet code from apple.com. Amateur retouch of Serenity Image
Found at UIP Netherlands site, http://www.uip.nl/serenity.html . Resized (not enough pixel depth to do a good job, IMO) as far as I could take it. Adjusted contrast, brightness, hue/saturation, etc. If nothing else, you can get a better idea of wardrobe...

School Days
I'm revisiting my intentions, having once stated that I had no desire to write fanfic. Still, there are some great unanswered questions in Firefly, and we may never get proper answers. This is my attempt at trying to describe what happened to River at the Academy, and how this is represented in the behaviors she exhibits in the series. I was originally going to call this "It Runs Through A River" (play on another movie title), but opted for the equally trite, "School Days". I hope you enjoy it; comments welcome. zoid
