They had Earth-That-Was music playing in the cargo bay. Old time boogie music, jive and jitterbug. Wartime music.

Inara stood to the side watching and sometimes slowly mimicking moves that Kaylee and River did.

Kaylee was bouncing around all over the place, showing River steps her father taught her. River keen to dance was picking up moves like no tomorrow.

Laughter and music peeled through to the engine room, the flight deck, the infirmary and the bunks below. Distracting and drawing the crew together onto the cargo bay.

Giggling, jumping, spinning, jiving, dancing girls. It was a sight to see.

Characters: Wash, Zoe

Prompt: See

Word Count: 100

Setting the autopilot, Wash headed down to the cargo bay. The music drew him down.

Zoe and Mal sat there watching the girls jiving to the music. Mal laughing at some move Kaylee was trying to make Inara do. Zoe sat back with a smile that crinkled around her eyes. She was happy.

Wash bounded over to Zoe, pulled her out to the middle. He started twisting and jumping to the music. Picking her up, he spun her around his waist and twirled her out. She squealed like a young girl.

It was all Wash wanted to see, Zoe happy.

Prompt: See

She flew like a bird. Her movements were graceful and free. Mal watched her from the crate on the side of the cargo bay. He wanted to see her without inhibitions, without the Alliance, and without the crazy. He wanted to see her, as she was, a beautiful young girl, having fun with friends and family.

She could feel Mal watching her. But River twirled and placed her feet with precision to the music. She could feel everyone. Their bright shiny thoughts, no defences. Music gives you joy, dance sets it free.
