AWESOME! I Love it! A little constructive criticism though; if I blur my eyes it looks much more like River. The shading, while excellently done, is a bit too dark.

Otherwise, beautifully Shiny! Keep it up!

love the hair. and the linework around the eyes is incredible. I always have such a hard time getting the depth in the very edge of the lids there. If anything I'd say you could use some darker shading instead of lighter (maybe even a little tweaking with the levels in photoshop.)

Really, really shiny, though. I'm a sucker for detail myself, and am terribly envious of that hair ;p

It's interesting that you refer to this as a portrait of Summer, not River. I does look more like the real-life Summer than her character in Firefly. It makes me think of the difference between the pictures of Summer on the movie poster compared to the way she actually looks in the BDM (though fortunately you haven't shown her all gothed out like some of the posters do).
