Welcome Home Jayne Cobb part 1

Serenity lands on the barren yet welcoming ground of a small moon. As Wash presses a few buttons and stretches, Zoë looks to him with much love and squeezes his shoulder. “Well, lets do this.” As Zoë walks ahead Wash slaps her on the butt and smiles.

Mal looks out towards a nice purplish pink sunset, no words are said for a moment until Jayne walks on to the platform to look out on his former home. “Man, this place hasn’t change a bit”

“Oh cap. Isn’t it beautiful? It looks just like Inara’s room.” Kaylee peers out from the darkness of Serenity’s cargo bay.

“Yeah real pretty, makes me want to puke.” Jayne loads up the new hovercraft that they stole from a previous job. “Lets go. I don’t want to keep my mom waiting, I’m hungry.” Kaylee stairs at Jayne with a bit of sadness but doesn’t want to encourage him by saying anymore to him.

“Jayne we aren’t staying that long. What is all this?” Mal points to the three laundry bags Jayne insists on putting in the craft.

“What? My mom loves doing my laundry when I visit.” Jayne explains with a childish grin on his face. Mal takes one look at him but doesn’t want to ask him anything else so he just shakes his head and enters the craft.

"I wander." Kaylee exclaims as she looks up at Simon who just joined the crew outside. "If Jayne's mother does his laundry every time he visits, How long has it been since he's washed his own clothes?"

“What? My clothes are clean. I think?” Jayne lifts up his right arm and smells his armpit. Everyone steps back and makes a disgusted face. “Still smells clean to me, now let’s go!” Zoë and Wash join Jayne on the hovercraft and they speed off towards their destination.

“So this is Jayne’s home planet. I thought he grew up on a more desolate planet with verry little people.” Kaylee laughs at Simon’s rude yet thoughtful quip and holds on to his hand. They stand at the platform to watch the rest of the sunset.
