Simon walked down the street with his sister, she was getting distracted looking at things then asking what they are. To most of her questions he would ask Kaylee who was walking along beside him.

RIVER: “What’s this do” pointing to a contraption of some sort.

Simon as usual having no idea looked at Kaylee.

KAYLEE: “Its an Aft-Carborator for the Y-3600 class engine” With a “I know something Dr Tam doesn’t know” look on her face.

SIMON: “ERR, What she said” Looking back to River who wasn’t there. He looked back to Kaylee who also wasn’t there he looked around and tried to see past the people but the crowed just kept pushing him forward. In just a split moment he had lost both the girls in his life that he loved.

Simon woke with a jolt but he couldn’t sit up there was a weight on his chest, he figured that it must have been Kaylee which explained why he felt naked. He lay back to wait for sleep to take him again. He was almost asleep when he heard the clanking of an engine part immediately followed by an “Ai Ya” by Kaylee.

The fact that Kaylee was in the engine room and not in his bed didn’t dawn on simon until River kicked him when she rolled over. This bothered Simon a lot, not so much that his sister was in the bed with him (River often used to spend sleepless nights in her bigger brother’s bed). But what bothered him was that he could hear Kaylee heading away from the engine room, most probably to Simons room.

He tried shifting River off him. But River was wide awake and not showing it, she deliberately was making her brother panic.
