Prologue: Breaking into Captivity

AN: Hey everyone. I decided to write a fanfic about Firefly. It’s my first, and it’s going to be a long fic. I hope I’m not in over my head. This chapter is tiny, but it’s a taste of what’s to come. This features River’s thoughts, but it’ll mostly be centered around Simon.

“SIMON!!!” River screeched as she was being dragged away by men wearing blue gloves. They said nothing to her shrieks, and barely reacted as she struggled against them. All that remained in their minds was pain, suffering, and death. No guilt nor conscience. She tried to break away and get to her brother, but their hold on her was so strong that River couldn’t get free.

Simon was trying to get free, she saw. He was being dragged in the opposite direction from her. Just a while back, he’d been trying to free her. He had gotten her message. River was happy to see him, as he got her from the room she was confined in. Just as she had gotten escaped with him, the blue people showed up. Two by two. Two to take River, and two to take Simon.

River gasped as Simon finally broke free of the men. He stumbled, and ran to River. He was grabbed by the ankles by the blue men, and one of them gave Simon a whack to the head.

River clutched her head and screamed. Simon’s thoughts were silent. He was alive, but now there was no chance for either of them to be rescued.
