At the Serenity Con, Nathan was telling us about this, he didn`t think that it would make it onto the internet - trust `Dusty Bottoms` to let us have this great photo

I remember Nathan Fillion telling that story. Dusty Bottoms was Joss Whedon's assistant Michael Boretz who posted the infamous picture claiming that Nathan had given him the OK. Nathan tried to get it pulled the next day but it was too late - it's still doing the rounds on the net. Nathan said he was a very vengeful man and that Mike Boretz was still dead to him! He even gave us a replay of the goofy face, but dared us all to take a picture.
