This is a lovely tribute to a man who will obviously be missed by your community. My sister is the girl who was driving the other car, and I can tell you that she and my family are praying for Jordan and his family and all of his friends (you) that you may all feel some comfort and peace. It's important to remember that terrible things happen and we all need to make the most of the time we have and be passionate while we can. I'm sure Jordan is at peace and is enjoying all the Star Wars and sci fi stuff he can.

I met Jordan in 1985 in Ironton, Ohio, on the day that my sister, Valerie, was born. We stayed best friends for twenty years. We probably knew each other better than anybody else has ever known us. I realize I haven't met most of his friends in Toledo, but Jordan may have shared stories with you that had me in them. One of his favorites was "the best lie" he ever told. Long story short, he convinced me to take a 2 mile walk with him at midnight in 15 degree weather, by lying and telling me that the Time & Temperature phone message service was registering a much warmer temperature. (I hate the cold.) The stories go on and on - and the majority of them illustrate how clever, genius, and funny a guy Jordan was. Like my wife, he had a "flypaper" memory - he could easily cover about 3 novels a week - and he could later easily recall any of the snippets of facts he had learned from his huge consumption of reading. Unlike myself, who retains only the main story. In fact, this may sound strange, but my long friendship with Jordan went a long way in helping me pick a wife that I was extremely compatible with. She reminds me a lot of Jordan as far as intellect and conversation goes.
Jordan's wit had no competition. Probably from the vast amounts of books he went through... the guy could crack on you faster than you could finish a sentence. His sarcasm was sometimes stinging, but always humorous.
The day after the accident, I went to the midnight showing of Episode III, despite my grief, because I knew that Jordan would've been there for certain. He told me about the special Star Wars event he attended in Cincinnatti a couple weeks before, and the special 8 minute footage from the film he was able to see. In his words, "It was breathtaking". I'm grateful he was able to experience that much. Though he will be super pissed to learn that he missed the film itself. As for movies, Jordan and I had a tradition when we were teenagers: We would rent 4 movies on Friday night and four on Saturday night. I picked one adventure flick and one comedy flick - Jordan picked one horror flick and one (usually erotic) flick. Keep in mind that "erotic" for us back then was Basic Instinct. In addition, we would go to the Movies at the theater every Friday and Saturday nights too. Sometimes we would even do double films. For example, 2 films back to back at the theater on Friday night - go home, watch 4 videos. Then again two films at the theater on Saturday, go home and watch 4 more videos. Yes, we loved movies that much. Jordan never slowed down. Just look at the movie props he had collected...
For a while we lived in Columbus, Ohio - just a mile or so from each other. Time passed, our lives upheaved a bit - Jordan ended up back in Toledo, I ended up in Philadelphia, PA, where I'm at now. I visited when I could. We talked on the phone about once a month - talked online much more.
Dave, (Jordan's dad) and I remain extremely close friends. I just got off of the phone with him tonight. We talked a little about some artwork that Dave discovered digging around. Jordan and I used to make our own comic books. He would usually do the writing and the color, and I did the art. What Dave found was a project that Jordan had forced me into doing against my will :-) but that I'm dying to see again: Caricatures of all our friends 15 years ago when we were much younger (and my artwork was probably so bad I'll cringe when I see it.) If Jordan's new friends that frequent this board ever want to see some of our old comic projects, I would be happy to share them. I have so much of our shared work that it fills a large bin. We'll also talk more about Jordan and maybe swap stories.
I'm posting here because I would like to get to know who his friends were in Toledo a little better, and maybe you could get to know Jordan better through me as well. He was like a brother to me, and I loved him a lot.
You can email me at classicfedora@hotmail.com or classicfedora@verizon.net. My name is Brian Barnett.

I work at Jordan's previous workplace, I knew him for about 3 months. I miss him as well, we used to talk on AOL every day at work. If anything, he only seemed to care about othres (from what I experienced) and he himself would always come second.
