Kaylee grew up staring

at the stars

on a prairie moon with fields and saloon bars

her parents grew big vegetables

everyone farmed there

they hung out with folks like

ranchers and blacksmiths at country fairs

she feels safe now

flying through the starry tracks

and from the bridge I can tell that

she loves this ship and she can relax

and just before

she fixes Serenity's drive

Kaylee sings to it a lullaby,
