Transcript:

In 2020, astronomers discovered the 34Tauri star cluster and eventually planets and moons with Earth-like conditions. Good thing humans developed gravity technology for quicker travel and terraforming because Earth was a real mess. The two largest nations, the U.S. and China spearheaded the new Global Exodus Alliance, using Earth's remaining resources to build Arks to the new Verse. Unfortunately, the Arks were still sub-light.

An entire generation was born and died en route to their new home, not to mention ship malfunctions doomed thousands to drift endlessly. But those who made it settled mostly around the White Sun on planets like Londinium and Sihnon. These central planets established Parliamentary government as the Union of Allied Planets.

The Alliance believed government control improved citizen's lives. They encouraged religious freedom, ethnic diversity, even rebranded the sex trade with culturally acceptable "companions". Sure, they monitored citizens at all times while covering up shady human experiments and assassinating people, but hey, companions! Life was so great, the Alliance even tried to force it on rim planets like Shadow and Hera.

Not so fast. The rim planets declared themselves the Independent Faction, and thus the Unification War began. Over five years, many rim planets were damaged, the Battle of Sturges left a debris-filled graveyard in space, and, even when their leaders surrendered, Browncoats like Mal Reynolds and Zoe Alleyne fought bravely for two weeks but ultimately lost at the Battle of Serenity Valley.

Still bitter about the war, Mal and Zoe fixed up an old Firefly-class transport ship, named it Serenity and put Zoe's husband Wash in the pilot seat. Together, they'll stick to the lawless edge of the Verse taking odd jobs and strange passengers. Unfortunately for the Serenity, their newest passenger can kill you with her brain and the Alliance will do anything to get their hands on her... and Fox will cancel this show because they’re the worst.

Have fun!
