At http://fireflyuniverseonline.com/ it says: “Firefly Universe Online will be released in stages, beginning with a Sandbox environment for players to explore and roleplay in the 'Verse. To find out the actual soft release date, please watch the trailer located in the Game section.”

The Trailer says 12/26/2012 in the last 5 seconds before it ends. Goody-goody! Another present after Christmas!

Warning! Warning! The word 'soft' in “soft release date” means that the game might not be ready between Christmas and New Year's Eve 2012. There could be technical problems. There could be legal problems.

For what it's worth, I've signed up for this. Was worth $20 for the chance of it becoming a reality, but also because those who are in now can help shape the game mechanics (no, not Kaylee! lol!) such as playable classes, combat resolution, etc. Even if it never comes to full fruition, for $20 I can get my Firefly RP fix online during the Sandbox release, and that alone is worth the price of a gaming supplement.
