She was beautiful. That was a common fact but she could be beautiful in so many ways it drove him crazy.

She looked beautiful reading to River after having a nightmare, the young reader’s head on her lap as everyone within hearing distance drew comfort from her voice.

She looked beautiful bickering with him, eyes flashing with anger then softening dramatically with hurt before she walked away.

She looked beautiful brushing Kaylee’s hair talking-girl and giving his mechanic a chance of having an older sister and best friend.

She looked beautiful saying goodbye to the crew before leaving him heartbroken and lonelier than he had ever been.

She looked beautiful sitting on a bed in her old shuttle as they headed for death, asking him why he didn’t ask her not to leave.

She looked beautiful sitting at his bedside, her head resting on his hand when he woke up after surgery and painting Serenity’s name with such dedication you’d think she’s working on a masterpiece.

She looked beautiful standing beside Kaylee as her made of honour at her wedding looking at him with expressive eyes as if it were they who was exchanging vows.

She looked beautiful holding her namesake, the role of godmother fitting her like a glove.

She looked beautiful redecorating the shuttle with the things she had brought over now as a retired companion.

She looked beautiful, after they made love adorable freckles on her nose, her hair splayed like silk on his chest

But if had to choose a moment where she looked most beautiful…it would be the present.

She was sitting in an armchair he made for her, wearing his shirt as she sang a lullaby to his nursing baby.

Yet somehow, he had the feeling that this was just the beginning of a series of moments he’d see hi wife looking beautiful.

Ah. this was wonderful! I loved the way Mal listed all the ways Inara looked beautiful and then at the end her nursing their child knowing they had finally given in to their passion for each other and got married was the icing on the gorram cake. Bravo, Ali D :~)

This? Utterly spectacular work, Anonym, if only for simple beauty of Mal's descriptions of the sheer complexity of Inara Serra :D
