Oh, come on, they're not that formulaic (although that is funny). At the very most, every episode does have some kind of job or criminal activity that frames it.
Except Objects in Space, and The Message (kinda sorta). Hey! So that's not even true.
And there's a lot more various crew issues, aspects, backstory hints and angles that come up than just this.
