Shiny! But why are there two characters? Is the idea of serenity conveyed by two words, or do these two always go together?

I guess I'm sorta asking what each one means, if anybody knows.

Oddly enough, I have 3 or 4 chops for Serenity, and none of them look like this one. The Serenity logo as seen on the side of the ship (and patch made for cast and crew) is not even close. Another has the first part, but a different second part. I wonder how many variations of Serenity there are?

In Chinese there are several ways to say the same thing. Therefore, there are several characters to be chosen from.

KayleeFrye - the two words put together like that mean "Serenity" or something close to it. Sometimes there is no way to directly translate from English to Chinese and vice versa. Separately those two characters (words) mean different things than "Serenity". The first charater in the image is "an" most commonly meaning "safe" and I don't recognize the second character so can't translate it.

I don't know where you could find them online. But if you could find someone who is fluent in Chinese and ask them for all ways to say "serenity" (including ways that don't necessarily translate directly to "serenity" but have the same meaning). But then again, "serenity" might be one of the words that do translate directly and doesn't have more than one way to translate. I'm no expert in Chinese, but I do speak it somewhat and read/write a bit.

I do know that "serenity" seems to be one of those philosophical terms or ideas important to the general Chinese state of being.

Yes! Finally, someone who brought that up! I thought that I was the only one... I can count to ten, say hello, goodbye, and thank you, but I think that the major problem that we are having is that some of the translations are in Mandirin, and others are in Cantonese, and we're not really sure which one is spoken more often in the show. Due to the "Hero of Canton," I'm inclined to say Cantonese, but I could be wrong. I'm also not sure which language mine is in.
