The sun doesn’t rise in the heart of space

To cast its warm morning rays amongst the

Rumpled sheet and tangled limbs of lovers.

There is only the beat of the engine

The dull groan of metal bulkheads and the

Digital click that tells you how much time has passed

It isn’t too romantic, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

After all, if I hadn’t sauntered on to your cargo bay that day

I would never be in your arms now, in a bunk made for one

It was dawn, too, when I first met you

You couldn’t peel your eyes from me,

And I couldn’t from you.

Because I was enamored, and so were you.

I think that’s why things went as far as they did

I was a companion and you were a soldier on the other side

And we were curious.

Sometimes I think about us – were we meant to be?

Did we fall into each other’s arms due to out proximity and our curiosity?

Did Adam love Eve because she was there?

Or because he felt that the deep burning desire that is only too poorly described as

Love.

Its dawn upon our serenity and the only light I need is the penetrating wavelengths of

Your eyes.

Ah, imagery. *Sighs appreciatively*

But Inara, so gloomy! The sun and stars in space are always rising... It's just that they're always setting, too.
