I actually think I know the exact episode and exact scene this is from. Heart of Gold, isn't it.
Is it... Watercolours? With, hmm, maybe charcoal over it? Actually, might be charcoal all around, really nice job on the blending if it is.

I watch the entirety of Heart of Gold just so it all adds up to this scene. And every time, I hope Inara doesn't tell him she's leaving... D'oh.
