Mal crossed his arms over his chest and stared down at his little mechanic. “Now, Kaylee, I know you’ve been a mite stressed lately-“

Kaylee glanced pleadingly up at him. “A mite, Captain? We’ve all been jumpier than a bunch of polecats on a hot tin roof. There ain’t no Alliance nearby.”

Mal looked into Kaylee’s hopeful eyes. “I don’t know, mei mei. What about the Doctor and River?”

Kaylee grinned. “None of the folks on Ma’at know about the warrant, Alliance must not think they’ll head for border planets. And we’ve been on plenty of planets like Ma’at afore, you never stopped ‘em going planetside then. Anyways, Inara checked the local cortex, just to be sure,” Kaylee added, seeing Mal’s eyebrow rise at her swift assurance.

Kaylee could see he was wavering. “We’re getting cabin fever, Cap’n. You can’t tell me you ain’t been feelin’ it.”

Inara and Wash snorted.

Kaylee hit him with the puppy dog eyes. “Please?”

Oh this is great, I'm so excited to see River go all... well River on those dirt bags.

So excited for the next installment. I like the way you write action, I'm usually lost at action, even in movies, but this was awesome!!!

Oh yeah, you have to keep this going. I'm a fan of elder Tam storylines (check out my story for my interpretation on how they'd meet up again) and you definitly set up an interesting version of it. No better way to reunite with estranged children than by seeing them take out 6 full grown men in front of you.

More, please.

Ohh this is excellent! I love how you brought the parents into it. I love stories involving them.

Simon and Kaylee fighting side by side to get River back was great - though the girl probably could have taken them all out on her own.

Eagerly looking forward to the next installment.

Oh boy...are the Tams (Regan and Gabriel) gonna be in for some craziness after seeing how River's capable of trahsing an armed SpecOps squad (so a group of drunken rednecks should be easy) single-handedly;)

Post more ASAP!
