...but battling a major case of writers block, I nearly forgot that I have a profile here.... :P Not a happy camper right now. I think my Muse went FOX an me and cancelled Inspiration. Sigh

I love Simon and River's relationship because they genuinely and deeply love each other. I love also because they are the only ones who fully understand and own each other. Simon helps River through her pain and River allows Simon to be a little less uptight.

I do I mean she finally was able to expel all of those horrible implanted images in her brain. She has found a purpose as the ship's co-pilot. How can she not be whole? What do you guys think?

Good morning fellow browncoats! Just cleaning house (updating my BSR postings) and a little of this and that. I was actually able to go to the movie theater Sunday and catch “Prometheus” on the big screen. I’ll hold thoughts about the show until I feel that more folk have seen it. Still, it inspired me to write a little add-on “Tail Ending” to the feature which could be viewed as something just to tack on to the ending credits, or maybe a clue of the beginning of a sequel. It’s just a personal work of mine, and it is just one chapter so far. If you have seen the movie and are wondering about what could have happen immediately, near it’s final scene, then check it out. You can find it below. It is titled “ Prometheus- Aftermath” and is in the movie/APV category of that site. It is also just one scenario of a multitude of others that could have happen. I hope you enjoy.

Been... four years? Apologies. Why am I apologizing? Who would it be to? Myself? Nice. I'll stop.

Had a dream that I was sitting next to Joss Whedon at the airport and had no idea what to say. What would I ask him to get him to real some big secret about Firefly, something that only he would know?

This has probably been said several times on this site by now, but I've been avoiding the Avengers threads until I saw the movie, which I finally did last night. In 3D. (BTW - once I got over the first preview, which had horrible blurry hard-to-look-at 3D, I really did like it. I'm old enough to remember the bad red/blue 3D of the 80s, where the only point of it was to make the audience duck when things flew at them and it basically looked like shit. These days, 3D looks pretty damned good. Fantastic even. I'm a fan.) Anyhow, I did really enjoy the movie. But what I want to share is this bizarre sense of pride in Our Little Joss. I feel like he's the neighborhood kid who we've all watched growing up, taking his first tentative steps, and now he's gone off and won the Olympics. Which is silly, because there's nothing little about the man and he certainly doesn't "belong" to us, but still. So proud! I think a part of it is that many things from Buffy and Angel and Firefly were right there in the movie (hello raspy voiced monsters in a "hell dimension"!) but he finally was able to do it up right. Made me laugh. Big budget, pretty special effects, same Joss. Love it. May he have many more chances to do things his way!

An afternoon thunderstorm really changed things. I've been watching the Waldo Canyon fire closely, since my parents live in Colorado Springs. The fire seemed to be moving away to the northwest, but my dad called a few hours ago and pointed me to the local news. A thunderstorm blew it over the front range into western Colorado Springs a few hours ago. It's like armageddon out there, with the smoke blowing over the city. My parents live about 6 miles east of the homes that now on fire, but straight to the east. The fire is apparently moving more north. I hope. I'm scared for them, though they are packing and will be gone long before the fire gets near them. So sad too, about the things that are being lost. I've spent a lot of time there, and hiked the places that are burning or close. Garden of the Gods, Flying W ranch, Rampart Range Road. My dad's office building is right where they are showing houses burning right now. It'll probably go, if it's not on fire already. This is awful.

This year, the Raleigh "Can't Stop the Serenity" screening to benefit Equality Now and Kids Need to Read is in JULY. Same theater (Raleighwood), same costume contest, same shiny raffle. See NCBrowncoats.com for more info and a link to eTix. I'm still involved with the local shindig as a consultant, but I'm not directly responsible for the coordination of the event, nor will I emcee this year. Instead, I'm a global sponsor. My publisher is donating digital copies of my cyberpunk romantic thriller STELLARNET REBEL, and I made "soul stone" necklaces like the one in the book, for lucky winners in all of the CSTS cities. I'm also excited to announce that the sequel, STELLARNET PRINCE, will be released in November of this year. The Stellarnet Series isn't a sci-fi western, but I think if you like Firefly, you'll enjoy this. It's got love, humor, sex, drama, social commentary, fight scenes, big damn heroes (and heroines), video games and all the good stuff. Cheers, Flame aka JLHilton.com
