one of my biggest mistakes is allways taking too much on my plate. well... its happened again. I currently have a poetry blog, rivers blog, my personal blog, (all of which preferably get updated everyday!) and I just added a firefly RP blog to that mix. when the oppurtunity came, it was too good to resist, so I'v signed on, and will be playing Allie Mei Washburne, Zoës 14 year old little girl. No need to fear though, I am NOT shutting down any of my blogs, I'll just be scaling back how often I post, which means longer periods of time between FFF posts. which is good anyway, since Summers coming and I'll be busy. so, See you in the black! Actually, three of them. Last fall I made a bet with my principal that our kids would double the library circulation at school. If they did, I would eat a bug. Except....the students stopped checking out books because they didn't want me to. Revision. He agreed to be the one to eat the bug if they doubled the circulation, and that's what we told the kids, but privately, I agreed to eat one with him to be a good sport and because no one should have to eat a bug alone. Well, circulation went up 116% over all. The high school kids increased circulation 200%! The kids plotted all year long what kind of bug it would be (stink bugs, scorpions, and roaches were popular choices - tomato worms added an extra icky squish factor to the mix). Last Friday during both lunches, he and I ate crickets. I can't say that eating a cricket was on my "bucket list", but at least in this small way, I now belong to River's bug swallowing sisterhood. And next time - I want mine covered in squeezy cheese!

I thought I explained this!! "Chingmau,deu"..I'm 59,VietNamVet,had surgery,recovery during first showing of Firefly. Friend told me, "your missing something special." Couldn't watch, drugged up. haha. Recently,saw Science Channel. 14 episodes later, went to Amazon and bought the series, and "Serenity" special edition. Fell in love with series, movie, cast, and know Joss from "Buffy and Angel", which I have all of those series. I'm a true BrownCoat.Well, fought in laos.Spoke Chinese,"HMONG Variety". The VC, or Viet Cong, seemed a lot like "Reavers". Well, I was scared as the crew, when they showed up. haha Love anything to do with FireFly..What a ship!! and WHAT A CREW!!!! Just rambling here, but I was thinking how hard it must have been for the cast and crew to let go of Firefly when it was cancelled. Someone I know thinks that Nathan Fillion's Firefly hints on Castle are pathetic, but I don't see it that way. They were right in the middle of really getting going on some top notch character growth and fun-as-hell plot lines, and they were watching the same process in their co-stars which was probably pretty satisfying, acting wise. What a gosa move, cancelling it. So when you see Nathan on Castle dropping in these little moments that refer to the show, how can you blame him? Just because there's no cows in space, don't mean you can't wish there were! Told you I was just rambling...

So I happened to get an email today informing me someone replied to an old post of mine about here. i followed the link and realized just how long it's been since I visited this lovely little corner of the Verse. Don't worry, I'm still holding the line as best I can, I've just been doing it a little more off the radar. Anyway, I think I'd really enjoy getting back into the swing of things around here. So hello to all the new folks and how's it been to the old timers still rattling about. I aim to misbehave.

Continuing in that vein, Summer Glau keeps almost getting back in the acting saddle, so to speak. Like, of course, the ill-fated Terminator: Sarah C., and her stint in the equally ill-fated Dollhouse. And Gina Torres? Maybe I've missed some shows, but the only thing I've seen her do was a part on Bones (was it Bones?) as a cheating wife. Alan Tudyk was in a brit flick about a wedding, in which he inadvertantly took acid, and we know where Adam and Morina are. Where's the dear doctor? Just wondering. I know maybe people know this, and I've been horribly out of the loop (school, life) but does anyone know anything?

Hello readers; I just finished an awesome book callede "Green," by Jay Lake. Substantial, well written, and a really good, believable female character written by a guy. No offense to anyone, but not all women who write men or men who write women get it right, and so this was a good read. Green is a woman sold into slavery at the age of four. She is groomed to be a concubine for the reprehensible, and really crazy, emporer, but at age 14, right before she is to go to his palace, she escapes. I can't spoil it from here on out, just know that it's set in an Earth-like world, and there are supernatural forces in play. The people and plot are believable and interesting, and the ending is a bit of a surpsise, and a bit of the hoped-for satisfying retribution to the bad guys. Green is a warrior and really good at it, and of course she suffers the obligatory fanstasy heroine's inner torture, which is resolved in a believable way at the end, not with a magic "poof! you're better!" thing. A nice page-turner. I hope for a movie, maybe, some day. Could happen, and would be terrific.
