Busy waiting
Saturday, 08 October 2011 08:28:16

As some of y'all are aware, I'm no longer doing the behavioral therapy gig. Long story short, I had discovered the company that employed me wasn't particularly ethical and I was ready to leave anyway. I would have preferred to leave on my own terms with another job already found so I could give them the finger on my way out, but what can ya do? I be honest, I wasn't particularly 'qualified' to do this job in the first place, they don't train on plan worth a shit, and there method's would never be APA certified. They are more concerned with billing hours and raking in the government money than actually making a difference in these children's lives. I'm too much of an idealist, I think my days there were numbered from the beginning. So I find myself busy waiting once more. Applying for jobs, waiting, interview (possibly), waiting.... you get the picture. It's driving me crazy. I'm also teaching myself what I believe to be what I need to know to pass the GACE exam in some of the academic subjects. Finding a music teaching job still isn't easy, but I believe a math or reading certification would find me work in more public schools. I've started filling the time with creative outlets while maintaining the job search. I'm practicing again (haven't done that seriously in a few) and am now learning how to sew. I know, it's a bit random, but I'm a fairly random guy and I enjoy acquiring new skills. Part of me wants to actually finish that fanfic I started a year ago, but I feel embarrassed every time I try to write in it. I believe I've injected a bit too much of myself into the character's personalities. So I'm doing fine, all things considered. I'm too busy and/or distracted to do much more than a little lurking lately, but I wanted to make sure y'all knew I was alright. My last couple of post were a might negative, not really livin' up to my namesake. Happy thoughts!

Mechanics
Sunday, 09 October 2011 16:13:40

One of my favorite things to do is work with mechanics. But i am 13 so i can not own a car or get a job at a car place. But my teacher works at the golf course near where i live, and sahe gave me an old struipped golfcart behind the workshop. It had nothing on it, the front and back shaft were taken off, the steering wheel, and a bunc of things unatached. So brought it home, and now me and my dad are working on it, but its funny because none of my family (Mom and Dad) are mechanically inclined, I picked it up on my own. But i acually tell my dad what to do, and its pretty great.

Probably something I ate ?

Well, not so much what, as to when. Soon before going to bed. A classic, as in the likelihood of having odd/ unusual dreams with scary monsters sort. Only this wasn't so 'scary' as it was ominous. Not that I buy into the view that dreams can predict the future, as I can't recall any such dream of mine coming to fruition. Not the sleeping kind, at least. I heard, from news reports, that a very large # of anti aircraft missiles have gone 'missing', over in Libya. The report was sketchy, but I think that some of these were the shoulder fire variety. This info clearly was bouncing around my head, which resulted in a sobering, brief dream... *I* ( or someone ) is walking in an fairly nice suburban area, at night. It's late at night, say past midnight, and the streets are empty. There's 2 or 3 of us, maybe, walking into a wide open park area. Might have even been on the edge of a golf course. Then, there's a sound of a helicopter, flying low. Real low. It's near by. No search light, as with a police copter, which makes it all the more curious. It comes in fast, and lands, maybe 150-200 years ahead. There's some sort of movement, people are getting out of the helicopter, and running around, doing something with real intent, but can't see what. A minute goes by, and a few folks are looking out their doors, walking towards the scene, to see what's up. Then, suddenly, 4 rockets take off, from the landing site. 2 fire together, there's a short pause, maybe few seconds, and then 2 more. All headed in the same general direction... " Umm... wtf just happened ?" I recall thinking, and with out knowing 'what', realizing this this was something really bad, and well planned out. And that's it. One of those real vivid dreams, which 'feels' real. Or , at the very least, seems like something from a movie. Kinda 'Sum of All Fears ' like... Cool scene, if it's only in a movie. Would hate to see it happen in real life.

Halloween is just around the corner! What you going as? Got the gear already?
Friday, 14 October 2011 12:58:58

Hey, Browncoats! I'm so excited for Halloween this year because I'm NOT going as something supernatural, dead or undead, for the first time since I can remember! I'm going as JAYNE this year! :) I've got Cargo Pants, SWAT style boots, a modified wrist strap that will do (has fake bullets on it, I think it'll work for Jayne LOL), a fake cigar, my son's air soft rifle (unloaded of course) with a scope... which pretty much leaves just a couple of things left to get. A hat of some sort (as I do not have time to make a knit hat of my own) and a shirt... I might try and get a Jayne knit hat online as there are many of you selling these amazing hats but I also want a cowboy like hat, not just for costuming but for other things I do outside fandom... they are on sale too so I might stick with that, it should work as long as the tshirt is right. So that brings me to this:

River's Diary: Part Nine tidbit.
Friday, 14 October 2011 23:45:11

I'm currently in the process of writing River's Diary; Part Nine, and I'm attemptong to finish it before the end of the month, so I can concentrate on NaNoWriMo. Anyyyyway, I just decided to name Serenity's Shuttles. I named Inara's The Zâo Hé. Which translates to The Peace Flea. (!) I thoight it was a cute and fun take on the whole Firefly named Serenity, since Fleas are even smaller then Fireflys. And, I'm posting a quiz on Tumblr tomorrow, to decide on the second shuttles name. Make sure to check it out! see you soon! - Ji. (Read, Like, Subscribe, or Die! :)

just wanted to say...

remembering part 2

Have a habit of wandering around when it's quiet I noticed that on the other version you can look back on past blogs going wayback.Nice, anyway feeling just a tad retrospective reminded me about a past blog and reply .I might be usless posting fanfics and the like but by my being here I feel that I'm furthering the cause even just a little. This place is my oasis,a home from home. Now, to the point this was said to me when I first came here and I'm just passing it on.........." Being a browncoat is sharing a powerful love of this little cancelled show with an extended family of friendly folk all across the world. It's not really a costume thing, or any such artificial construct. Most of us call ourselves browncoats because something about the show resonates very strongly with us, and when we discover other people with whom we have that in common, friendships are born". Hands of Blue
Saturday, 29 October 2011 16:22:57

Wow, it's hard to believe I've been a member of this site since January of 2007. I was just an ickle junior in high school then and now I'm a 21 year old junior in college with a life and responsibility. When did that happen? And how can I make it stop? I got so caught up in it all that I forgot about this part of my life, but I missed my firefly family. So now I'm back, hopefully posting fics on a regularish basis /fingerscrossed. I dunno, nanowrimo starts on Tuesday and I go to school fifteen hours a week and I work forty hours a week, but hopefully, hopefully I will find the time to upload a new fic at least once a week. Sorry I was gone so long! Glad to be back, Az

Finally....
Sunday, 30 October 2011 17:36:24

Finally, finally, the desktop PC went to the "Doctor". Hope it can be fixed. Told them, the most important thing to be saved (if anything can be saved) was my fanfic file. Even as dorky as I am, I know that everything is gone if they have to re-format. So, my New Years Resolution will be to remember to do a backup of the file more often than just every six months or so when I happen to remember doing it.... (The humble beginnings of chapter three of "Another Cobb in the Wheel" had just begun to emerge, when the computer died... just in case my gentle readers were wondering if I abandoned it. It fell prey to Digital Reavers....) Not terribly important, maybe, but I felt like writing a Logentry about it... Happy Sunday, everyone. Dorkfish

D.C Dollhouse naming system
Monday, 31 October 2011 22:32:39

So... after some long hard thought, I finally came up with a plausible naming system that D.C Dollhouse used! I already knew that LA Dollhouse used the NATO phonetic alphabet, and D.C would also have some structured naming system. The system? Roman and Greek deities! The way I figured it out was the fact that two of the dolls mentioned by Bennett (Summer Glau) were named Apollo and Cassandra. I thought, "Wait... aren't they a god and goddess?" so I googled it (Always my last resort... [Cue Nathan] if you like eating horse shit...) and it came up with Roman and Greek gods and goddesses! Anyone got any other theories, or has this already been found out and my information is obsolete? Stay Shiny! RiverTam1 *Fun fact- Apollo fell in love with Cassandra at first sight. Apollo offered Cassandra a deal. He would give her a very special gift, the gift of prophecy - the ability to see the future - if she would give him a kiss. Cassandra accepted. With a laugh, Apollo gave her his gift. Instantly, Cassandra could see the future. She saw Apollo, helping to destroy Troy. When Apollo bent to kiss her, she angrily spat in his face. Apollo was furious. Although he could not take away his gift, he could add to it. Although Cassandra could, forever after, see the future, no one would believe her. Moral of the story- think before you date a god  *
