So, here I am, once again posting after such a long hiatus. I have been following our crew via Castle, Terminator, Chuck etc and it makes me want for more Firefly. Maybe someday. As I had posted before, I had finished my first draft of my novel Echoes. Well, I've also gone as far as finishing the second draft (67,000 words) , have had an exerpt published in an anthology, started my own blog (

Finally watched HP's The Half Blood Prince.

This was the book which lost me from the series. The movie, however, was pretty darn good. Nice transition from the earlier ones, where Harry and his pals were just 1st and 2nd years. The kids have grown up, and so has the tone of the story. Am ready for the follow up movies and finish the series.

Jayne Hat

For my Birthday I got my very own Jayne hat and I couldn't be happier. I have to say it was my very favorite birthday present. I especially love it because people who have no idea what it is, ask me about it and I get to spread the word of Firefly and Serenity! May they rise again!

Took me a while....

to figure out what was off about the BDM. Mind you, it's a great movie. But I always had the feeling there was something a little off kilter. It was obvious, just not to me Dorkfish. Classic case of missing the forest for the trees. Had to re-watch the movie three times, before it hit me. Yeah, I'm a bit slow sometimes. I KNOW that the BDM was made by Universal, but somehow it didn't stick. So it took me re-watching the movie three times (I know, I already said that, but bear in mind that I'm a Dorkfish)to finally realize, the reason Serenity looked so different was that, Doh! Fox owned the previous set and the new one had to look different enuff to avoid legal ramifications. Also did not quite realize till I re-watched it the third time that everyone looked a bit off. Their hair (Jaynes was longer, Wash's shorter, Books cornrows and beard, ect.) The way they dressed (Mal, Kaylee) and other small and not so small things. But more than set, dress, whathave ya, what for me was more.... "wrong" I might say, was the overall tone of the movie. In the Series, Serenity is home, they laugh a lot, they have fun, are a family. Firefly is fun. But in the movie, they all are angry. There is some kidding, some funny lines, all what we love and expect, but it just feels.... different. Can't really explain it, but it bothered me a whole lot and I needed to get it off my chest. *headscratch* Still, it was our Big Damn Heroes, so that movie is still special. Can't help but love them. BoS.

Clueless in Germany.....
Saturday, 16 October 2010 22:30:04

Y'alls Dorkfish recently opened her big mouth on the FB page of a certain fan-produced movie set in Our Beloved Fandom and loudly announced: "I wish there was a Shindig in Germany." To which Dorkfish received the all too obvious answer: "Organize one." Doh me! :banghead: Naturally, they are right. Just is... I an't ever been to a Shindig, therefore have no Idea where to start. But as I am living where there is also the biggest US Military Community outside the US, I am pretty dang sure, there is one or the other Browncoat among them. I recently got back in touch with one "Project Rudolph", that prepares little baggies with candy, christmas ornaments, letters and stuff to hand out to deploying soldiers passing through, so that might be a starting point. You know, like arranging a screening of the BDM up at the hospital. I just need to get my big rear end in gear and moving and find out, if it seems as good an idea to the people that need to be involved (I'm a local national with no connections to the military, so I need massive amounts of help from them) and we're going to have us a mighty fine first-time shindig. Why am telling y'all about this?? Nerves. I'm too scared to grab the phone and make that first call to the Rudolph-people because they might say "Nope, fuggedabout it, we're the wrong people anyway, all we do is have candydrives and pack baggies to hand out. It's a dumb idea, anyway." :crap: Of course, they also might say "Yes!", since the whole thing is mainly to show support to the troops and such. And the honest desire of a little dork to know she ain't the only one Browncoat in the land of Lederhosen and Sauerkraut. (Wait, that's Bavaria.... I live in a more westernly direction....the southwest of Germany is my corner) But if I want to find out if there are any German Browncoats, I'm all on my lonely own..... Because there's the chance that even with advertising, I'm going to end up sitting all by my lonely self at some location, wasting money I don't have to rent it for that day, with movie-showing-gadgets, possible decorations, maybe refreshments or whatever I am supposed to have (never done this kind of thing, so I don't even know what I need and what not) and not a single soul showing up..... Prolly wish the Reavers would get me to spare me from the embarrasment.... :knife: Oh wow, that feels very, very good to have off my chest!! And where better to do so than here?? I know way too many people that would not have a single clue as to what I'm on about, therefore raising the level of frustration to heights I have never experienced before. And a frustration is very, very damaging to my (mostly non-existent) calm. :blast: I think I'll go now and watch the BDM and get me an eyeful of Cap'n in his skivvies. **squeee** Love ya, Browncoats!! y'alls Dorkfish.
