New Firefly Convert
Thursday, 12 January 2012 04:50:57

Hi! My name is Danielle and I'm a new convert and my conversion story starts like this. I had heard about Firefly and Serenity back when the movie came out but never saw it cause the idea of a space western was kinda silly to me. Well years went on and I forgotten all about Firefly and Serenity until now. I love sci fi and I happened to notice recently that Firefly seemed to be a Recommendation on Netflix cause I had watched Farscape and some other sci fi show so this past weekended I could not find anything to watch on Netflix and I thought oh why not check it out and I LOVED IT!!!!!! I watched Serenity the other night and LOVED IT!!! Well I'm a fan! I read about how Fox messed it up by showing the episodes out of order and think that was kinda stupid. This is show is just cute for its own good. Danielle

It took me awhile but I finally finished the TV series Firefly, it came out in 2002. As all you Firefly fans know.I just never seemed to get to watching it, my daughter bought it for me awhile back. This show should be on all you sci-fi buffs, must watch show. Unfortunately, the show got cancelled after one season. Which is only 14 shows. What a shame, the show had great story lines..action and suspense. It wasn't the same alien type shows you see with the weird looking aliens. Too Bad Too Sad...Watched the movie "Serenity," omg, To bad the show did get cancelled. Where was I when the show came out, the first time..I need more Firefly. Stop the press's, Firefly had sooo many possibility's.Dam you FOX network... Khaaaan....

Cautiously Optimistic....
Tuesday, 17 January 2012 08:31:01

Things seem to be slowly lighting up. I will get my computer back soon, the worddocs on it are safe and, almost more important, this very consistent writers block thats been on for more than a year finally, finally seems to be lifting. (Yay,me!) Still no fanfic I'm not embarrassed about way too much to send off to for Betaing, though. It's all disjointed bits and pieces in no apparent order, yuck. But at least I'm writing again. Of course, now that I said it out loud, there's a chance some other major fudge up is waiting around the corner. To quote our beloved captain: 'How come it never goes smooth?' Frequently thought about legally changing my name to Murphy Reynolds in the last year... But still, things seem to lighten up.... :D Wishing everyone a shiny week, y'alls Dorkfish

Thank you Bytemite. I'm glad I made it aboard. Wasn't sure if Serenity would leave without me.Don't have much to share, except knowledge which I've picked up along the way of my many travels..

Back on the wagon...
Wednesday, 18 January 2012 18:11:31

I fell of the Firefly wagon for a while, admittedly due to a deep depression involving the decreased likelihood of a return of our Big Damn Heroes to either the big or small screen. I've missed dearly the friends I made on this site. As of late, however, I've felt a resurgence of inspiration. Perhaps it's because of repeated viewings of Firefly on various television channels at random times, or seeing my favorite character actors portraying characters on other shows. Either way, I'm back and working hard to write something worth reading... Rob O. P.S. - I'm very excited to catch up with some of my favorite writers on this site!

Same Gos Se, Different Year

Well, mostly the same as my last blog, from about 8 months ago, is what is "new". That aside,

Browncoats are everywhere
Monday, 23 January 2012 01:58:31

Last week I had a minor medical procedure at a local surgical center. I wore my comfy Serenity Valley tshirt. It was seven in the morning and there were a few people in the waiting room. As I returned to the waiting room from admitting, a total stranger stood up and gave me a fist salute. Turns out he's a Browncoat, too. I sure didn't expect to find one of us there at that hour in the morning, but it put a smile on my face. He, like me, was a recent convert (within the last two years). The boys at Fox are sure missing out if they don't reboot Firefly. There are so many of us out here, all holding.

Jewel Staite's Talent
Friday, 27 January 2012 02:23:53

I'm enthusiastically blogging about Jewel because, well, why not? If you were to look up "undervalued actress" in an encyclopedia, you might just find a picture of Jewel. Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the role of Jane Foster in "Thor" would have been so much better if it had been played by Jewel? That's just ONE example. She's been acting since she was knee high to a grasshopper and every bit of that experience shows. I would love to see her branch into more feature films. What I would really love to see is her paired up with o...say...Matt Damon, or Jude Law in a film with a great screenplay and a top notch director. Not only do I think either one of these actors would have great chemistry with her on the big screen, but just as a few examples, these are actors with raw talent who would take the ball all the way down the court and slam dunk it right along with her EVERY time for a director. Joss Whedon enthusiastically raved about her and with good reason when you watch her performances. Nathan Fillion was always extremely impressed with her when you listen to his Firefly commentaries. ALL of Jewel's performances are instant classics. She has that extremely rare, mysterious talent of making an audience want to watch her scenes again and again just like that of Judi Dench or Morgan Freeman. To every director from Michael Mann to Frank Darabont, if you want two thumbs up, Jewel has been right there under your noses and she's just that...a Jewel. Give her a great LEAD role that earns her a little gold statue named Oscar...better yet...give her two. MORE Jewel Staite please! By the way, can anyone tell me where I can reliably track what conventions she'll be appearing at? I don't do twitter and it would be cool to meet her some day.

Desperately seeking formatting help!
Friday, 27 January 2012 16:51:32

Hey, there, fellow 'Coats. Ages ago someone taught me how to create shortcuts between my fics. For some reason, they no longer work. I'm sure it's something miniscule I'm doing wrong. Please help! Thanks in advance, Rob "I mean to confound these bungers."

A friendly and modest request...

So after more than an hour of reformatting of web links, :banghead: I've made it much easier to read my fics, "A Mighty Thorn In a Mighty Paw," and "Nothing Ventured." I had a great deal of fun writing the first and would love it if some of the newer members would take some time and read it. Please leave your opinions. I love them all, positive and negative! They're in screenplay format, by the way... "Don't know how smart ya are, top three percent. But you ain't weak." Rob O.

As you can tell by my username I'm a huge Marvel comics fan, so oviously I'm looking forword to the avengers movie coming out this May.But I hade my doubts. I am a new-comer to firefly (and it's already my favorite show ever made) so I've never seen Joss Whedon do anything. Now I know without I doubt The Avengers will amazing.
