not sure what the worst part about this is...........
Thursday, 09 September 2004 01:52:45

A story a friend sent me: T. Bechtol, part - time City Councilman from Pensacola, Florida, was asked on a local live radio talk show the other day just what he thought of the allegations of torture of the Iraqi prisoners. His reply prompted his ejection from the studio, but a thunderous applause from the audience. "If hooking up an Iraqi prisoner's scrotum to a car's battery cables will save one American GI's life, then I have just two things to say: "Red is positive" "Black is negative" ________________ So many things about this are bad. I know a city council man isnt exactly a pillar in our government, but its enough to make a headline that one of my friends would read (and trust me, my friends dont read...you have to glue their eyelids open to get them to read news). May we all live in interesting times....

just a log and invite
Thursday, 09 September 2004 01:59:49

I'm putting together a little shindig over in the clubhouse Friday. I've asked the Fireflies to perform. There will be food and drinks. We have lots of pillow seating and hammocks. I wanted to get the word out a few days early so you can make plans to log in, raise a glass, and listen to a few rocked-out cartoon themes. Could be fun. A special invite to all the newbies that have joined since con. You're welcome too of course. With school starting I know many of you are busy with work or class, but I hope you can make it. Stop by the clubhouse anytime, we'd be glad to show you around. We are still taking applications for minions, cabana boys, and handymen/women.

Hurricane Spawns Fanfic
Thursday, 09 September 2004 02:20:51

Yes, it's true! Hurricane Frances decided to visit Orlando at the same time I was supposed to be there for a Huge Martial Arts Convention (complete with semenars... ouch!). :fork: That darned system then moved northward into my backyard and caused much rain and flooding. Basically my vacation was washed out... And so I put all my free time to gooduse (well, not all of it, just some of it) and wrote my first Firefly Fanfic. I'm hoping to have the 6th and final chapter up by Sunday night.

Friday Sept 10 midnight EST --- End of Strawberry Voting
Thursday, 09 September 2004 03:46:08

Just a reminder that voting for the Strawberries ends on Friday. No one participated in the poll to see if it should be delayed, so I'm assuming that almost everyone who will vote has. To those of you catching up because of late conversion or busy lives, hope you enjoy reading all the nominees regardless. Our website coordinator lives in Florida, so I can't guarantee speedy announcement of the winners. Polls are programmed to close automatically though on friday at midnight. It's been fun. Most likely will be reprised again next year following the movie's exit from theaters.

A new beginning...
Thursday, 09 September 2004 05:43:57

Ah... so this is my first blog entry here. I've decided to start today since it is my first day of school (in about 8 hours - I should probably be asleep right now. Ooops.) It's weird, I've been looking forward to starting again since about June when I realized I was sick of my retail job and needed to get my degree finished so I can get a job that does not involve the phrase "customer service." But now, I'm not so ready. It's like I've been standing in line for ages, hoping to get to the end but when I finally get near to the front I realize that I like the familiarity of the line. At least when I'm in the line, I know where I am. I don't know what I've lined up for. I don't know what is at the front. (end long winded metaphor ) So basically tomorrow signifies for me a fresh start, a new beginning. Maybe this will be the year things finally change. Two years ago I was a university freshman wondering the same things. I guess the only way to find out is to get ready to start the day, to see where the (academic) year will lead. What's at the head of the line is anyone's guess.

Browncoats dealer table at Dallas Comic Con

Paid the rest of the cost so we (Dallas-Plano Browncoats) officially have a dealer's table (with electricity to show the DVDs ) at the Dallas Comic Con.

Do you have a favorite word?
Thursday, 09 September 2004 23:51:37

Mine is "reverie"... Anyways... It's been a while since I've blogged (that a word?) and I guess I should update... College: So far So good. I've been having a blast. It's so much better than high school was for me and I just really like it... so far... TV: Monk and Dead Zone came and went. Now it's time for the Fall Lineup, sadly and reluctantly without a Whedon show... (Still grudging on that) Hawaii looks fun and Las Vegas (Yes, I like it, so what?) is returning... I just recently began watching X-Files reruns and it's nearing the end of the 9th season and I'm kinda pissed because just as I'm getting invested in Doggett and Reyes, it's gonna end... dammit... The Sit:Com thing, is not going so well... I think I'll blame it on severe writers block... I may need a better muse... Other than all that, I'm still alive so that's always a good thing... Although, if I happen to die before I get to see "Serenity" I'm asking for a reprieve...
