First of all I want to apologize to everyone for not posting so much lately. Real life has thrown me a curve ball like it does from time to time. New Years evening about eleven o'clock my Mom fell in the den. She was in lots of pain and couldn't walk but wouldn't let me call EMS until the next morning. She insisted on dressing and putting on makeup and lipstick before EMS arrived the next morning and actually apologized to the firemen when they arrived to take her to the ER. I actually had to laugh a bit when the EMT's said that she was smaller than the back pack of equipment that they carted into the house. That began my current four week odyssey of long waits in the ER and hospital rooms, and not knowing if she was going to make it to the next morning because of previous medical complications. And finally hip replacement surgery and transfer to a nursing home for physical therapy. She's doing well and continues to improve a bit every day. She's walking short stretches with a walker and should be home in a few weeks. I visit every night after work and weekends so I don't have too much time for writing, except for late nights when I'm so tired that I can't get to sleep. I read the Firefly fics in the BSR (and Live Journal) and it takes me away from what's going on in my life. I like to think that Meg Reynolds is a bit like my Mom. Both women are tough in their own way, yet devoted to their family and love the place where they live whole heartedly.
