drown my sorrows in a bottle cap
Thursday, 29 September 2005 00:12:56

yes- a bottle cap. i made a serenity promo pin by means of a hot glue gun, glitter glue, safety pin and a shiny pic of jayne. small and smells like, well . . . vera? it was pretty much the only thing that went well today. i have a c+ in physics. at least my teacher borrowed firefly! if only he would give extra credit the way outlaw does. *sigh* i hate bad grades, at least my parents won't find out. SPEAKING OF PARENTS! the final decision was to watch "ariel". it went over big with my mom and my dad (tv and film genius) thought it was "good". five minutes in my mom said that it was already 100times better than StarTrek: Enterprise. gee thanks mama- not like that was the biggest embarrasment to trekkies ever. :) i wanted to show "OoG" but decided against it mainly on the premise of bester. seeing as how i'm dressing as kaylee for halloween- i don't think it would put my dad in a happy place. he's no nazi but he was talking about big corp and stuff during the movie. INARA? POLITICS? for gov't we are actually doing a fun assignment. i have to write a paper on a tv char's pol views. i picked inara because it'd be easier than any other char (unless y'all comment with hints there *winkwink*). i'm gonna go with liberal, but enjoy the distinction between morality according to book and according to inara. inara really does have a facinating code- you can still be moral without following the biblical guidelines. help in examples of why would be greatly app. esp. by those newcomers to firefly! welcome! for you i relinquish my title of newbie and become a crew member. enjoy the ride, y'all!

the little prince

I loved the book....saw the movie....didn't hate it :) But the one thing that stood out for me in the musical was Bob Fosse's snake dance. Did anyone else get the feeling that Michael Jackson saw this movie and said "Hey, I can do that!", because pretty much every move screamed Jackson to me, heck, he even did an early version of the moonwalk!

It's today!

To quote that annoying little kid from Stuart Little: It's today, It's today! And in about 5 minutes from now I'll be sitting in a nice air-conditioned cinema watching the wonderfully spectacular spectacle that is (you guessed it) SERENITY! At last! I'd just like to thank Joss for making this possible, the crew for coming back to the project after the evil alliance cancelled Firefly, the fans for always believing it could happen, my lawyer...hang on a minute, I think I'm getting carried away...

Oh no, oh no.

The local theater finally posted this morning that Serenity WILL be here, on 2 screens, beginning Friday. Yay!! The trouble?? Well, our "regular" babysitter (we average once a year) has a swim meet this weekend so she's not available Friday or Saturday (Sunday is out--hubby golfs). The backup babysitter? Same thing. I called a friend at 8:30 pm to get her sitters. Her primary sitter will be out of town for an drama festival. Her backup sitter wasn't home and I left a message and probably will have to wait until tomorrow after school to hear back from her. On the good side, the other movie my hubby and I want to see won't be opening here this weekend after all. Another good thing? Hubby realizes he can NOT get out of this as I'm pulling the "golf pay-back card." Heehee. The bad side?? I'm not sure we'll be able to get a sitter. Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.

i have to work this weekend!!!

A Day of Obsession of Firefly
Thursday, 29 September 2005 07:11:13

ALL day long I've been listening to the Firefly theme song (downloaded it), been on this forum all day, been thinking about nothing besides Firefly and Serenity, and I just ordered the DVD Set of Firefly tonight :) OK time to get a life. LOL. A life of the Browncoats way ofcourse ;)

Throwing my reason onto the pile.

There have been multiple blogs posted from poor souls who won't be able to see the BDM on opening weekend. I decided to join in on the rant. While most people's reasons are unavoidable, such as having to work . . . .mine is self inflicted. I can't stand to leave my boys yet. They're only 2 weeks old today, and I don't think I could enjoy the BDM for constantly wondering if they are okay. Maybe next weekend.

Today on the Quad

I had about 40 minutes between my women's studies class and my Latin class today, so I decided to go to the student union to grab so food (I'm a college student, by the way). Outside the union I noticed a girl putting up serenity flyers on this big message pole. It was awesome! I stopped and had a five minute conversation with her about Serenity (she saw it in June *jealousy*) and when we were each going to see in on the 30th (12:10 tonight -- less than 11 hours left for me!). It just really cool to meet another Firefly/Serenity/Whedon fan so randomly. It made me happy. :-)
