So there I am at the mosque and one of our members, a kid in the 7th grade, comes up & asks me to pray for him so he can get better grades. Seems he got a D in Language Arts (what we called English when I was in school)... So I say, Sure, no problem. After some conversational meandering, where the kid is telling me how he likes toread but hates to write essays, and how his teacher had made them all write a 17-page essay after they watched the movie "Serenity" and the kid didn't 'get' the movie. I'm thinking, his teacher is showing the entire 7th grade class the movie "Serenity"... Could the teacher's a Browncoat... Also, the movie would be appropriate language-wise cuz all the swearing's in Chinese for the most part. So I tell the kid to ask his teacher is she's a Browncoat. The kid asks "What's a Brownocat?" "Nover mind" says I, "Just ask. Dong ma?"

I finally wrapped up a finish to "A River Taken" as was requested by a number of people, the real purpose of which was to examine how these characters are contending with all that had gone down in the previous story, and what it would mean to them in the future, and don't worry, there is no shiny, may-sue type ending, key people are still at odds and unhappy. Where wold be the fun in everyone getting what they want? Question for everyone: I wouldlike to put together a nice little bit of charmingly horrific fare for halloween coming up, and incorporate a little crosover fun at the same time. now, i don't really feel comfy and cozy (and we all kow how important that is to me) breaking from canon and introducing aliens, so i am down to vampires, or an ode to george a romero (who is to be worshipped!). My question, then is this: what's your fancy? Let me know.

OK So, I am on my feet 11 hours a day. When I first started the new job I was wearing a pair of black shoes that I had. Leather Nike high tops. NOT the softest comfiest shoes on earth. My big toes started to hurt. A LOT. And now the toesnails are purple. I know this is from the bruise under the nail. I worry because it is not going away. I know you all don't care about this. But then neither does anyone else! LOL. I think I will try soaking my feet in epsom salt. I suppose gangrene would mean disability! On another note, there is this feral cat at work. She had a baby until some idiot on the crew ran over it. I want to bring her home, but can not afford the cost of having her fixed, declawed, wormed, vacinated and all. I really don\t know what to do. She is so sad looking, has no shelter and winter is coming. Any ideas?

Well, we got the flooring down upstairs. That only required pulling the old carpet out from under ther toilet (had to remove the john to do so), ditto the large sink cabinetry (ditto the moving as someone had actually run the carpet not only under the cabinets but partway up the wall behind it instead of cutting it to size), and lifting the cast iron clawfoot tub to remove small patches of carpet from under the feet and put in the tile squares. It's finished. I'm finished. Now it's the next owner's headache. Did I mention the small leak from undoing the plumbing so we could move the sink? Next: wallpapering the downstairs bath. I do so love wallpapering. (Briefly considers "finger" emoticon) The walls are just too uneven to get away with simply slapping a coat of paint on them. Prepasted vinyl is going up. Fret not, it is a matte finish, in a relatively tasteful blue wash. I steamed off a particularly unpleasant embossed pearlized extremely busy BLUE ROSE floral, lace, and ribbon patterned paper shortly after we moved in. That was very satisfying. Not quite as fulfilling as painting over the Bubblegum Pink clawfoot tub, but close. The wallpaper had been laid directly over a previous layer of paper with a simple little rosebud (1/16") pattern. Unfortunately, as is often the case when you do this, the mildew had taken hold in the old wheat paste between them. I scrubbed with bleach for days, then painted it with an inhibitory primer. That was about 3 years ago. Never got 'round to painting, you know how you just get used to looking at a room without really seeing it? Yeah. So I'll be painting the cabinetry and trim while I'm at it. Gripe gripe whinge moan.
