It's nice to be missed... A lot of you shiny folk have commented on my absence of late: deepest and most sincere apologies here. I trust the Slinky Series helped ease the pain of my not-being-here-to-post-ness. Sadly, it will probably be a while before i can return to post again. I'm in the midst of a move and the internet situation is just flat-out crazy-go-nuts, man, so it'll be some time before i can work out that part of my new digs. *sigh* Anyway, the other reason i haven't been around much is i got out to Comic-Con and have been getting myself back in place at work, at home and in time for the above-mentioned move. And, OMG, Tim Minear is a sweetheart! And Mark Sheppard is the same height as me AND a wonderful guy to boot! He signed my "Serenity: Left Behind" book - on his page! - and Tim (can i call him Tim now that we've had almost a full conversation, or do i need to continue using his full name?) signed my Firefly DVDs. :biggrin: Okay, floating back down to earth again...sadly, i missed Joss the whole time i was there, but i can now say i was in the same building as him [i]at the same time[/i], but it doesn't change the fact that i missed him completely. :disappointed: Finally, the last reason i haven't posted in a while is...i didn't have a plot. I had the slinky dress thing ALL SET UP for, like, weeks, just sitting there, taunting me...but no plot. Until last week. And then i had to get it all out and perfected - because i would never serve up something i'm not proud of to anyone - and...well...you know the rest. I hope everyone enjoyed the little trip down Crazy Lane with me, though. I realized halfway through this series that i tend to beat up on the Captain a bit, so next time, i'll try to not give him the flu...or a broken arm...or...a broken heart...or...poison...or...any of my other plot gaming devices. I promise. And...who knows? If people want to see Rowena and Kopacz pop up again...maybe i'll pull them back in. But they've got Issues - note the capital "I" there - and they give me nightmares... So, until next time, darlings...wish me luck in the move!

WYTCHCROFT

The wide, heavy and fragrant – not to say just plain stinksome – expanse of the Seleni delta rolled out across the miles as far the eye could strain to see. Tangles of green and purple textured fleshly and moist. Under the knots of vines, roots and wierd uprising creepage, were veins of dark water. Narrow atrophied causeways, browned and humid. The speedboat the men were on roared against the inert sludgy waters like an animal caught in a mire. The men themselves were, for the moment, quiet. One, at the back, minded the engine, scanning the unblinking horizons with a veterans narrowed gaze and, on occasion, flicking out a long macheted arm when his vision was obscured by growth. Their aim today was speed, not concealment – and the boat seemed determined to prove it.. The man at the prow of the craft was a killer. Wanted. Feared. A large man known for his temper. A soldier feared as ruthless and a criminal feared for his lusts. He had, in his span, killed many things and in many ways. He stood still – with a weapon lying in readiness on his lap – while a tensed hand spread its fingers to deliver a stealthy killing blow. The man at the engine of the boat had barely the time to blink before the killer had spun around and struck. There was the meaty sound of flesh striking flesh. “Ruttin’ mosquitos!” yelled Jayne Cobb. Looking at the boatman with appeal in his eyes. “they’re driving me nuts!” he slapped again, nearly toppling off the speeders low prow. .................................................. - about face

CHAZZER

So I am back from Rhodes. Okay, I've been back almost a week, but you know, been keeping busy. I have always loved Greece. I've been a lot in my short lifetime, once to Kos, twice to Crete, and now to Rhodes. And I've always loved it. The people are great, the food is perfection, and the weather is - admitedly, unsuitable for a girl who can burn and faint in a country currently half underwater, - but still, you know, pleasant. So what went wrong in Rhodes? Well, pretty much the apartments sucked. I can cope will dingy and basic, after all, my family are tight. We aren't looking for luxury. But you know, a pool that isn't surrounded by a massive wall which blocks out the sunlight and is therefore freezing would be nice. And if the snack bar served food, that would be great. And if the rooms didn't lock you in when they felt like it. (Seriously, this little 5 year old girl got locked in, bless her. So did I, but you know, sympathy for kids.) And you know, wire sticking out of bathroom wall. Not so good. And if they insist that you put loo roll in the toilets, they could at least empty the bins at some point during the week. Ach, I'm gonna stop complaining now, cos the fact is, all that wouldn't matter so much if it hadn't been for my brother moaning non stop the entire time. He complains that he's not getting enough sunbathinh done, WHILE throwing up from sunstroke. He does my HEAD in. Anyway, I'm back, and it really wasn't as bad as I'm making out. I'm just gonna be a but more wary getting last minute deals from now on. Up till now we;ve been lucky and found great places, but clearly that's not always gonna happen. So, some photies. Enjoy!!

SAFEAT2ND

Ok, I just got back from a most excellent holiday in Cape Breton. My liver hurts, my cheeks hurt from laughing and I ate way too much. All that and I got in some good fishing. I return to, Softball playoffs, my girls end of season soccer tournaments and I'm left wondering... WHERE THE RUTTIN' HELL DID SUMMER GO??? On the bright side, I got the Serenity CE DVD today and a bonus, I found the complete Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon serials for $8.99. At least the winter will let me get some movies watched and get back to my drawing and writing. I got a bunch of new box sets to watch: Starhunter, Starhunter 2300, Babylon 5 Season one, Babylon 5: Crusade and the Blade set. It's tough, I know...but someone's gotta do it right?
